J-PAC (Japan Program at Chiba) is offered to students from academic institutions with which Chiba University has university-level student exchange agreements, and whose academic interest is in the area of Japanese culture and society. J-PAC includes International Liberal Arts Program, which offers to students irrespective of their area of specialization, and Japanese Studies Program, which is designed for students who specialize in Japanese studies at their universities. Both start in October and end in August of the following year, however, they can also accommodate students who wish to study at Chiba University for only one semester, commencing either in October or in April in the following year.

Established in July 2015, The Academy of Hong Kong Studies (AHKS) of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) is the first academy dedicated to fostering Hong Kong studies within local tertiary institutions.
Aiming at encouraging non-local young scholars to conduct research on Hong Kong-related topics with a view to building a trans-regional Hong Kong Studies Research Community, the AHKS has introduced a initiative entitled “2018 Hong Kong Studies Visiting Doctoral Students Programme”. The research theme of this year is “Studying Hong Kong’s Multiethnicity”. All non-Hong Kong residents who are currently registered PhD students at non-local universities are welcome to apply on or before 28 February 2018. Successful applicants will be given the opportunity to conduct a visiting research in Hong Kong for no more than two months (June to August every year, the exact time period will be further discussed with successful applicants).

The Siebold Program at Tohoku University in the city of Sendai offers a unique opportunity for undergraduate students interested in Japan to take classes and conduct research while experiencing life in Japan. Set in a regional capital pairing the convenience and excitement of a modern urban locale with celebrated natural beauty, the program offers access to the resources of a major national university to provide academic training and an overseas experience unequalled anywhere in the world.
Currently in its second year, the Siebold Program has welcomed more than 20 exchange scholars from its affiliated universities in Europe and Asia to study subjects in the humanities and social sciences at Tohoku University’s Faculty of Arts and Letters. Along with academic and language training, participants enjoy social outings, field trips to historical and other sites, and dedicated spaces for conversation and exchange with Japanese students. This 4-week intensive Japanese Studies Program provides international undergraduate students who have an interest in Japanese culture, a good opportunity to study various aspects of Japan — traditional, modern and contemporary. You can choose from weekday courses which may be of interest to you, as well as the chance to go on weekend excursions in and around the Saitama/Tokyo area. Waseda University Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies International Relations Program was selected for the International Priority Graduate Program (PGP) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).
The PGP program, which was created by MEXT to support programs which have international appeal to foreign students, provides priority allocation for government financed foreign students.
Students should apply for the scholarship to GSAPS. GSAPS selects students and recommend them to the Japanese Government. The Program will continue from 2018 to 2020. A detailed outline of the selected program and the application procedure are as follows.
