[Japan] Sophia University – Exchange Program Spring 2018

Sophia University has more than 200 partner institutions worldwide and receives exchange students based on the student exchange agreements. Every year, more than 300 exchange students study at Sophia. Participating exchange students pay tuition to their home institution for the period of their stay at Sophia. Exchange students will be responsible for their own room and board and transportation to and from the host institution.

[Japan] Tokyo University of Foreign Studies – Short Stay Winter Program 2018

This four-week intensive program is aimed at learners of Japanese language who are currently enrolled in universities pursuing either an undergraduate or graduate degree. Our courses are designed to be practical ones providing the learners hands-on exposure to everyday Japanese language used in Japanese education, culture and society.
Classes will be divided according to the Japanese language proficiency of the participants and every class is designed to fulfill the needs of participants at different levels. Each class will consist of a small number of participants – 12 or less.
While supporting the participants to improve their Japanese language skills, this program will provide invaluable opportunities to experience the real Japan. This program includes various off-campus activities – a two-day excursion and culture trip(s) to Tokyo and Kanto regions to broaden the participants’ understanding of Japanese culture. With the support from TUFS International Student Support Association, on-campus Japanese culture experience – tea ceremony, Kimono try-on, flower arrangement, calligraphy and interacting opportunities with TUFS Japanese students will also be offered.

[Malaysia] Universiti of Malaya – Student Exchange Program 2018

University of Malaya, or UM, Malaysia’s oldest university, is situated on a 900 acre campus in the southwest of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. The varsity is proud to claim the title of the country’s premier university and the origins of the university can be traced back to 1905 with the founding of King Edward VII College of Medicine and its subsequent merger in 1949 with Raffles College (founded 1929) in Singapore to form the national university of the Federation of Malaya under the name of University of Malaya.
In 1954, the government put forward a proposal that the University of Malaya should rightly have two branches, one in Singapore and another in Kuala Lumpur. Through an act of parliament in 1961 the University of Malaya as we know it today in Kuala Lumpur, was established on 1 January 1962 as the first university in this country.

[Japan] Kansai University – Intensive Japanese Language and Culture Course (IJLC) Winter 2018

Kansai University (KU), known as one of the leading universities in Japan with old history of 130years, is a comprehensive private university with 13 undergraduate, 13 graduate programs, and 3 professional graduate schools. There are over 30,000 students enrolled at the university including more than 900 international students. KU campuses are located in Osaka. They are about an hour train ride away from Kyoto, Kobe and Nara. Under the new vision for internationalization entitled “Kansai University Global Initiatives” (GI Vision), KU opened the Bekka “Japanese Language and Culture Program Preparatory
Course” in 2012. This unique course is designed to enhance Japanese language proficiency, media literacy and inter-cultural competency.
Currently, over 100 international students from various countries and regions with large portion of students from Asia are enrolled in the course. They are striving to move on to the next stage of education at Japanese universities at both undergraduate and graduate levels. We are now offering an Intensive Japanese Language and Culture Course (IJLC) in addition to the Preparatory Course (Bekka). IJLC will have sessions in summer and winter. In this IJLC, we provide instruction in Japanese as a second language as well as Japanese culture experiences and field trips (e.g. to Kyoto). Participants will learn Japanese language, and understand Japanese culture and society from various perspectives. Another feature of the IJLC is that the participants will have opportunities to interact with KU Japanese students through a variety of activities. In summary, participants will have opportunities to learn communicative Japanese and truly experience the vibrant cities and people of Western Japan.

Nara Women’s University exists to provide female students with the highest learning environment, and our main purpose has been to foster women who can succeed in society through education and research. Therefore, our regular students are all female and most of the exchange students are female as well.
If there are male students who still would like to take our classes and receive credits, or do research with a specific teacher at our university, understanding our purpose and the environment, please let us know before applying for the program. In addition to that, please be notified that we might not be able to accept a student depending on his/her major or when he/she would like to start studying.

The Nagoya University Short-Term Japanese Language Program (NUSTEP) offers two week of intensive Japanese classes. Participants will join specialized lectures by faculty and visit some of the laboratories on campus. We aim to promote a greater understanding of Japanese culture and society.
The program also provides various on and off-campus activities such as cultural excursions, field trips, exchanges and discussions with Nagoya University students. All participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the program.

G-STEP is a two-week program open during summer and winter vacations. And this summer, Gachon University is providing exclusively Beauty Design class (nail art) for students. Students can earn credits and a certificate if they pass the exam on the last day of the class. G-STEP also offers several other classes such as Korean Language or Nursing.

We are accepting a few full-time undergraduate and/or graduate students from your institution under the student exchange agreement between Ibaraki University and your institution.

Eligibility
Applicants must be full-time undergraduate/graduate students at your institution.
(1) Students who demonstrate academic excellence and personal integrity
(2) Students who do not intend to seek a degree at Ibaraki University
(3) Students who have a definite purpose and plan of study abroad and are expected  to obtain benefits through studying in Japan
(4) Students who, while studying at Ibaraki University, continue to be registered as a full-time student at your university and return to your university to continue their studies or to graduate from your university, as soon as they complete the period of studying at Ibaraki University.
Monthly stipend: ¥40,000 (up to 10 months)
