Greetings from Japan!

Kyushu University is one of Japan’s leading national research universities, located in Fukuoka City, Japan. Established in 1911, it is renowned for its excellence in education and research, offering a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs across various disciplines. Through its University-Wide Student Exchange Program, students have the opportunity to study in English or Japanese while experiencing academic and cultural life at one of Japan’s top universities.

We are pleased to inform you that the application for Kyushu University Student Exchange Program Spring 2027 is now open for Universitas Gadjah Mada students.

 

Fact Sheet

 

ELIGIBILITY

  1. Undergraduate students (S1) or Graduate students (S2/S3)
  2. Enrolled in Universitas Gadjah Mada during the program
  3. Must have completed at least one year of study at UGM by the time of enrollment at Kyushu University
  4. Minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale
  5. Be proficient in the language of instruction:
    • English-taught programs: TOEFL iBT 79, IELTS 6.0, or equivalent
    • Japanese-taught programs: JLPT N1 or equivalent

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  1. Official Academic Transcript
  2. Language Proficiency Certificate (English or Japanese, depending on the selected program)
  3. Letter of Enrollment from Faculty
  4. Letter of Nomination from Faculty (addressed to the Head of Office of International Affairs UGM)
  5. Letter of Recommendation from the Academic Advisor (must include handwritten or electronic signature)
  6. Curriculum Vitae
  7. Motivation Letter
  8. Colored Copy of Passport
  9. Confirmation Letter of Participation (download)
  10. Passport Size Photo
  11. Study Plan (for applicants who wish to earn credits; not required for JTW applicants)
  12. Research Plan (for applicants who wish to conduct research)
  13. GPA Conversion Documentation (if the home institution does not use a 4.0 GPA scale)
  14. Copy of Diploma (required for Graduate Program applicants if applicable)
  15. Other documents required by Kyushu University according to the selected program (e.g. JTW Essay, Project Proposal, etc.)

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  1. Submit the aforementioned documents to UGM International Exposure Application Form:http://ugm.id/IntExposureApplication no later than 15 September 2026 for internal review.
  2. OIA staff will evaluate your application. Once you are selected as Nominated Applicants, OIA will confirm your official nomination to Kyushu University and you may proceed to the online application no later than 15 October 2026.
  3. The FINAL decision is from Kyushu University.

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • The nomination deadline from UGM to Kyushu University is 30 September 2026.
  • In the meantime, students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
  • In case the faculty could not provide the Letter of Enrollment and Letter of Nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id).
