Vives University of Applied Sciences (Hogeschool VIVES) is a university of applied sciences located in Belgium. It is one of the institutions of higher education in the Flemish Community of Belgium. Vives offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs in various fields, including business, engineering, healthcare, education, and more. The university is known for its practical and career-oriented approach to education, preparing students for the workforce through a combination of theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience.

Several international students from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) had the opportunity to showcase pencak silat, a traditional Indonesian martial art, at Yogyakarta’s Kilometer Zero on Saturday, October 26^th, 2024.

Held over four hours, this pencak silat performance was the main event of Pencak Wisata Budaya 2024, organized by the Paseduluran Angkringan Silat Community.

The international students, who came from countries including Japan, Malaysia, Italy, the Netherlands, Malawi, Rwanda, and the Philippines, first spent two days learning pencak silat before demonstrating their skills in front of the public.

Kumamoto University is located in the center of Kyushu Island in Japan and is rich in nature. The University has a hill clad in fresh greenery behind the campus, giving us a tranquil atmosphere for studies. KU is one of the oldest universities in Japan with seven faculties, eleven graduate schools, and 23 research centers/institutes (as of August 2017) that support a wide spectrum of educational and research activities. Currently, the university is home to around 8,000 undergraduate students and 2,000 graduate students, including 507 international students from 49 countries (as of May 2017). For over 100 years the university has been at the forefront of culture, advancing science and technology, and contributing to the development of the Japanese educational system.

A total of 18 international students and awardees of the Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB) scholarship in Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), participated in the International Students Summit (ISS) 2024, held at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta from October 14-16, 2024.

Under the theme Javanese Rhapsody: Weaving Culture, Creativity, and Solidarity, ISS 2024 aimed to introduce Javanese culture while strengthening traditional values, creativity, and openness to modern developments.

Throughout the event, the international students engaged in various exciting activities that combined Javanese culture and arts, such as touring Kampung Batik Laweyan, doing outbound activities, playing traditional Indonesian games, and joining competitions related to Indonesian culture.
