The International Education Innovation Fund (IEIF) is a funding initiative by the Australian Government Department of Education that supports international education and research-collaboration activities, especially between Australia and partner countries.
Following the success of the first two rounds of the IEIF ASEAN Research Collaboration Project, we are excited to announce that applications are open for Round 3 of the Project.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
  • This project is administered by the Australian Government Department of Education through the International Education Innovation Fund (IEIF), delivered in partnership with the RMIT Asia Hub.
  • This program aims to support the careers of Early Career Researchers (ECRs). ECRs are researchers who have completed their PhD degree or equivalent within eight years of applying to participate. It will deliver ECR placements for ASEAN member states in Australian research institutions in shared priority areas. Through this initiative, selected recipients will receive up to AU$20,000 each to complete a one to three-month research placement at an Australian research institution.

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Be a citizen and/or permanent resident of an ASEAN member state or Timor Leste
  • Not be an Australian citizen and/or permanent resident
  • Have completed a PhD degree or equivalent within the eight years prior to applying to participate in this project (i.e., PhD was conferred from October 2017 onwards)
  • Be available to commence their proposed program in Australia after 2 February 2026 and complete the internship by 24 April 2026
  • Provide a research proposal which falls under one of the eligible research focus areas
  • Provide all relevant supporting documentation in English
  • Obtain a placement offer from an approved host Australian research organization (list provided in the IEIF – ASEAN Research Collaboration Project 2025 Guidelines (PDF 913 KB))
  • Meet the eligibility requirements to apply for and hold the relevant visa issued by the Department of Home Affairs

The Spring Academy on American History, Culture & Politics is an annual, one-week interdisciplinary conference for PhD candidates at the Heidelberg Center for American Studies (HCA). It welcomes early-stage researchers in American Studies for an exciting cross-disciplinary and intercultural dialogue. Every year the HCA invites twenty outstanding doctoral candidates from diverse academic disciplines to Heidelberg to present their dissertation projects in the field of American Studies. Participants prepare a twenty-minute presentation of their research projects, which is followed by a forty-minute discussion session.

Program Information

 

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

  • The Heidelberg Center for American Studies (HCA) invites applications for its annual Spring Academy on American Culture, Economics, Geography, History, Literature, Politics, and Religion to be held from March 23-27, 2026.
  • The conference venue is the HCA’s Curt and Heidemarie Engelhorn Palais, located in the center of Heidelberg’s old town, within short walking distance to restaurants, bars, and Heidelberg’s main tourist attractions.
  • During the conference week twenty participants present their PhD projects, thematically arranged into ten panels according to the field of study and academic discipline. Presentations are scheduled for each day.
  • Participants are requested to prepare a 20-minute presentation, which will be followed by 40 minutes of discussion. In addition, there will be several workshops held by experts from different fields of American Studies as well as a panel discussion at the end of the conference.
  • A detailed program will be sent to the participants in early March.

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • PhD candidates from around the world with a project in one of the fields of American Studies (history, literature, cultural studies, law, political science, religious studies, economics, musicology, sociology, and geography) may apply to the HCA Spring Academy.
  • Participants have presented projects on gender, identity, immigration, international relations, the Cold War, slavery, literature, and the history of sports, among other topics.
  • Though PhD students in all stages of progress can benefit from the Spring Academy, we especially recommend it to applicants who have already done their research and are at the beginning of their writing phase, as they can profit the most from the conference.

 

TRAVEL FUND

  • There is a small travel fund available to cover travel expenses for participants registered and residing in developing and soft-currency countries. HCA does not accept applications for the travel fund that do not meet these requirements!
  • Scholarship applicants will need to document the necessity for financial aid and explain how they plan to cover any potentially remaining expenses.
  • If you are applying for our travel fund, please find the application form and send it in together with your application form. Additionally, there is a recommendation form which needs to be filled out by your doctoral advisor. The completed recommendation form needs to be submitted within the application deadline by your doctoral advisor to our coordinators.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Candidates who are seeking admission as new full time PhD students in the following eight universities, irrespective of their country of origin, prior work experience and ethnic background, should be eligible to apply.

  4. The Chinese University of Hong Kong
  5. The Education University of Hong Kong

  • Applicants should demonstrate outstanding qualities of academic performance, research ability / potential, communication and interpersonal skills, and leadership abilities.

 

FELLOWSHIP AWARD

  • The Fellowship provides an annual stipend of HK$340,800 (approximately US$43,690) and a conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$14,200 (approximately US$1,820) per year for each awardee for a period up to three years. 400 PhD Fellowships will be awarded in the 2026/27 academic year*. For awardees who need more than three years to complete the PhD degree, additional support may be provided by the chosen universities. While candidates’ academic excellence is of primary consideration, the Selection Panels will take into account factors as follows:

  • Academic excellence;
  • Research ability and potential;

Faculty of Engineering UGM in collaboration with Vocational College UGM proudly present International Conference on Sustainable Energy (ICoSE 2025): Toward Energy Transition and Net-Zero Emission.

This event also involves international partners, namely the University of Chile (Chile) and UiTM Sarawak Branch (Malaysia), and is supported by CAS-ANSO (Chinese Academy of Sciences-Alliance of International Science Organizations).

The conference is driven by the urgent global need to accelerate the transition to clean energy and achieve the target of net-zero emissions by 2050, in line with global commitments such as the Paris Agreement. Indonesia, as a developing country with abundant natural resources, has a strategic role in this effort. Therefore, this conference serves as an important platform for academics, policymakers, industry players, and civil society to discuss innovative and sustainable energy solutions.

Through this conference, it is expected to achieve cross-sectoral synergy in supporting sustainable development, promoting green investment, and strengthening Indonesia’s role in the global discourse on energy and the environment.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM 

  • Funding will be provided for research, development and innovation projects (R&D&I projects),
  • The selected projects will be in addition to the BMFTR’s national activities in support of the bioeconomy and constitute an additional contribution towards achieving the funding objectives of the National Bioeconomy Strategy. The results from the funded project may only be used in the Federal Republic of Germany or the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the partner countries of the funded projects.

 

ELIGIBILITY

The collaborative projects to be funded must address research building block 6 “Global research collaborations” as well as at least one of the three other building blocks for research funding mentioned in the strategy:

  1. Biological knowledge as the key to the bioeconomy;
  2. Converging technologies and cross-disciplinary collaboration (digitalization, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, automation, miniaturization, etc.);
  3. Transfer into application (value creation networks, etc.).

The funded collaborative projects must relate to at least one of the following thematic areas:

  1. Sustainable bioprocesses for industry
  2. Novel bioeconomy products

The project goal should contribute to at least one of the three basic requirements of the Bioeconomy Strategy:

  1. Fossil-based products or processes will be replaced or completely new bio-based solutions will be created.
  2. Resource efficiency will be increased for example by the utilization of residues, cascade use or circularity.
  3. Greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced to a lower level than generated by the current state of the art.

  • The KF Fellowship for Postdoctoral Research (PF) is designed to support the full-time research of emerging scholars who have recently obtained a Ph.D. in a Korea-related research topic at a university or research institution located outside of Korea.

  • Scholars who have recently obtained or will soon hold a Ph.D. in the humanities, social sciences, arts & cultural studies, media & communications, contemporary Korean studies, or any other relevant field with a Korea-related research topic 
  • Have obtained a Ph.D. within the past five years from the start date of the fellowship period, OR
  • Be current Ph.D. candidates scheduled to receive their degree before the start of the fellowship period.
  • Have not been awarded a university position equivalent to or exceeding that of a full-time lecturer, or a senior researcher position at a research institution.  
  • Hold citizenship or permanent residency status in a country outside of Korea.*

The IEIF ASEAN Research Collaboration Project aims to support high-achieving international post-PhD ECRs to participate in commercially focused research in Australia, reflecting areas of mutual interest with the ASEAN region. The initiative will support the hosting of researchers by an Australian institution for a period of one to three months to build and deepen institutional linkages, create professional networks, support professional development, and exchange expertise with Australian researchers.

Greetings from Netherland!

NL Knowledge House (NLKH) will hold its flagship initiative known as the Matchmaking Event with an aim to provide a networking platform for researchers and experts from Indonesia and the Netherlands. The stakeholders involved will include governments, civil society, non-government organizations, knowledge institutions and businesses to explore possible forms of cooperation in the relevant thematic areas. Matchmaking is therefore considered as the critical point in the process of developing strategic collaboration.

MATCHMAKING CONCEPT

  • To ensure an effective matchmaking process and identify the most suitable partners, NLKH—represented by Nuffic Southeast Asia—will implement a pre-matchmaking mechanism through a multi-phase assessment.

 

TARGET AUDIENCE

  • The interested candidates from various sectors (government agencies, researchers, non-government organisations, potential investors, entrepreneurs, and education enthusiasts) can sign up for the event through the registration link.
  • Participants are strongly encouraged to attach any relevant ongoing or new project proposals to support the matchmaking process.

 

THEMATICS FOCUS AREAS

Participants are therefore encouraged to submit proposals that fall under the following thematic areas:

  • Maritime and Logistics
  • Food Security and Agriculture
  • Water Management
  • Health
  • Semiconductor and Microelectronics
  • Islamic Studies
  • Cultural Heritage
  • Digital Transformation & Cyber

Only proposals aligned with the above themes will be considered for the matchmaking session.

 

MATCHMAKING PROCEDURE

  • Participants will receive a confirmation email in advance, which includes their personalized schedule, assigned thematic room, and other logistical details. On the day of the event, participants are expected to go directly to their designated rooms and rotate between Dutch institution tables for one-on-one meetings according to their schedule.
