National Central University (NCU) was re-established in Taiwan in 1962 as part of the country´s response to the International Geophysical Year. The school was initially located in Miaoli, but was relocated to Jhongli in 1968, and gradually developed into a comprehensive university. NCU has now become Taiwan´s leading school in the fields of geophysics and space science, and was selected as one of the major research-oriented universities in 2001. It is a first-rate university with solid international qualifications.

The Jardine Foundation in its discretion awards Jardine Scholarships annually to students to enable them to attend educational establishments, primarily selected colleges at the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge (the ‘Universities’) in the United Kingdom.
The Foundation aims to assist scholars who have the potential to become outstanding citizens with a high commitment to the community. Consequently, the selection of candidates is based on a number of criteria, which include academic achievement, leadership qualities, and involvement in non-curricular activities and community affairs.

The origins of Kokushikan University lie in the Kokushikan private academy, founded in Tokyo’s Azabu district in 1917, midway through Japan’s turbulent Taisho period. Founder Tokujiro Shibata and his young colleagues envisaged that this academy would cultivate competent individuals endowed with wisdom and courage. Kokushikan, which has already produced over 146,000 graduates active in all spheres of society, will be celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2017.
