Tokyo University of Foreign Studies is the oldest academic institution devoted to international studies in Japan. It began as the Institute for Research of Foreign Documents (蛮書調所, Bansho Shirabesho), a Tokugawa shogunate’s translation bureau set up in 1857.It was subsequently established as an independent educational and research institution with the name Tokyo School of Foreign Languages (東京外国語学校, Tōkyō gaikokugo gakkō) in 1899.

The Graduate School of Regional Development and Creativity at Utsunomiya University has been selected as a special program (for three years from 2021) by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of the Japanese government.

We are pleased to inform you that the DAAD is reopening the short visit programs after closing this program at the beginning of this year. The programs are listed below.

Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) is inviting UGM to be one of partner institution in their In-Country/In-Region-Program for students/graduates from South East Asia for the intakes 2024-2026. This program in funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
