Started with one of my dream bucket list “before i graduated, i will go to Japan for exchange program” and in 2019 i success to make it happen. Having experienced living in Japan, specially Tokyo was trully a life-changing experience for me.

I got something new that i never thought when i’m still in Indonesia. I met new friends from another country, i made a wonderful journey and story with them, and visited many places that i never though before. Joining AIMS Program in TUAT made me have another point of view to see an issue, learned about hard-working to get what you want, and how to respect and appreciate everything that comes into my life.

Studying abroad had always been my dream, but I never imagined that it could come real soon. Through the AIMS program, I got an opportunity to study at Gyeongsang National University (GNU), South Korea. It was truly amazing! Have you ever imagined watching a Korean Drama, directly, without any subtitles laying below the screen? Having a Korean-style class, meeting new people and new culture, trying various Korean dishes, touching the snow, etc. Yes! So much cool stuff to do indeed. Those are beautiful memories that will last forever.

I was beyond lucky to spend a semester in Japan. Although that was such a shot period of time, there was so many invaluable moments to be told that you could write a book from them.

Greater than taking a short trip holiday, studying abroad is missing home to broaden the perspective about how I see the world and deepen all the love to my root, Indonesia. I really recommend everyone to try exchange program once in a lifetime because whichever part of the world you go, surely it is worth every second.

Sciences Po Paris (France)

Being an exchange student at Sciences Po Reims has given me so many opportunities to develop my academic and non-academic skills. Spending one semester away from home and being the only Indonesian in town was difficult, but I have learned more than I expected. More than half of the students at Sciences Po were exchange students, hence we shared the same problem: homesickness. I am delighted to say that the lecturers, staffs, student organizations, and even the school paramedics were very helpful and attentive to my well-being needs, not only my academic needs.

Studying in University of Glasgow on my student exchange program was the one of the best experiences ever. The opportunity in being able to stay in Glasgow in the midst of the pandemic was a chance worth taking. Although living all by myself in a foreign city is actually one of my biggest fears, yet it turns out way better than I thought.

The people there, especially the lectures and classmates are really friendly and helpful. That makes me feel alot better in adjusting despite the teaching method difference. There are a variety of classes that have helped broaden my knowledge in International relations and they also have classes that help us with skills in writing as well that are open for everyone.

Study abroad through an exchange program? Uh, I was like more a joke at first. But, I said ‘yes’ and let’s be real.

Particular thanks to AIMS and UGM that gave me a chance and funding to study abroad. didn’t expect that I was spent my life almost 5 months in Malaysia as a mobility student at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) which was the best agricultural science in South East Asia. I enjoyed every moment during this program. Start from going campus with UPM bus, studying in the class with professional lecturers, field trip/study tour, building relationships, and crossing culture with international friends even just hangout rounding some places in Malaysia.

Study abroad is the single most effective way of changing the way we view the world.Ó – Chantal Mitchell

That’s true. My life has changes after I went to Kasetsart University in Bangkok, Thailand. I spent the whole semester in foreign country that I knew nothing about the language even the alphabet.
I met amazing people from around the world, global society.
It completely switch my perspective about how I wanna build a life and give service for my beloved Indonesia.
It force me to thrive beyond my imagination.
It’s not always happy rainbow sunshine story, I have fear too. But that’s okay, It won’t stop me. It’s worth every penny because it leaves beautiful marks on my memory, on my consciousness, on my heart. It’s not only about pursuit experience study in overseas but it also a journey for my soul.
I hope someday you’ll get this chance too, so you can tell the story on your own
