University of Glasgow (United Kingdom)

Studying in University of Glasgow on my student exchange program was the one of the best experiences ever. The opportunity in being able to stay in Glasgow in the midst of the pandemic was a chance worth taking. Although living all by myself in a foreign city is actually one of my biggest fears, yet it turns out way better than I thought.

The people there, especially the lectures and classmates are really friendly and helpful. That makes me feel alot better in adjusting despite the teaching method difference. There are a variety of classes that have helped broaden my knowledge in International relations and they also have classes that help us with skills in writing as well that are open for everyone.

Above all, the park days, walks and coffee every afternoon after each and every class is one i will remember most. The scenery there is just extraordinary and soothing especially after a productive day. people you met and the travels in the UK around Glasgow would be the one i’ll hope to relive again.

Study abroad through an exchange program? Uh, I was like more a joke at first. But, I said ‘yes’ and let’s be real.

Particular thanks to AIMS and UGM that gave me a chance and funding to study abroad. didn’t expect that I was spent my life almost 5 months in Malaysia as a mobility student at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) which was the best agricultural science in South East Asia. I enjoyed every moment during this program. Start from going campus with UPM bus, studying in the class with professional lecturers, field trip/study tour, building relationships, and crossing culture with international friends even just hangout rounding some places in Malaysia.

Having a meaningful study abroad experience on my resume is a tremendous asset. studying abroad made me expands my horizons, improved my language skills while opening up my eyes to the wider world. Do you dream about study abroad? but still, worry? Put aside your worries and make your dream come true. Happy trying…

Study abroad is the single most effective way of changing the way we view the world.Ó – Chantal Mitchell

That’s true. My life has changes after I went to Kasetsart University in Bangkok, Thailand. I spent the whole semester in foreign country that I knew nothing about the language even the alphabet.
I met amazing people from around the world, global society.
It completely switch my perspective about how I wanna build a life and give service for my beloved Indonesia.
It force me to thrive beyond my imagination.
It’s not always happy rainbow sunshine story, I have fear too. But that’s okay, It won’t stop me. It’s worth every penny because it leaves beautiful marks on my memory, on my consciousness, on my heart. It’s not only about pursuit experience study in overseas but it also a journey for my soul.
I hope someday you’ll get this chance too, so you can tell the story on your own

Life has been good to us, so don’t take it for granted. Embrace yourself to the infinity and beyond.

(Hit me up on @alfiyatullaeli for more deep and fun story behind this journey)

I participated in Global Summer Programme at Singapore Management University on July 2019. I believe UGM has done a very great job in encouraging me to take an international exposure opportunity as it seeks to facilitate its students with a world-class education that enables them to possess “Locally Rooted, Globally Respected” attitude. With a specific focus on participating in Double Degree Program or Exchange, it is highly likely that the programs will be effective in harnessing the ability of its students to make UGM proud on the global stage. So challenge yourself and take international exposure opportunities offered by UGM!

University of the Philippines Los Banos

I can’t be more grateful! It’s such an honour for me to be an exchange student at the University of the Philippines, Los Banos. It was an enchanting experience, and I believe that study abroad is a perfect way to step out your comfort zone. It’s a journey of self-discovery! The Philippines is a long lost sibling of Indonesia. I find quite a lot of similarity between our languages, and it was very interesting when I discussed that with my fellow Filipino Friends.

In UPLB, I also met other International students. We share culture and stories! We respect each other. Don’t get me wrong, facing such a culture and academic air shifting can be hard. Also the fact that my roommate is Japanese, and all my neighbour are foreigner, sometimes makes my tongue twisted because I have to speak English all the time! But all the struggle, it is what makes me stronger, more adaptable and more open-minded.

Study abroad is a must-do list in your early 20’s, fellas!
Cheers and find me @arinamaulinda
