The 3rd GREAT International Summer Course 2022 invites participants to explore knowledge about how digital transformation and internet revolution support and affect our socio-cultural life by developing various digital technology and creativity processes. In addition to gaining knowledge, experiences, and networking opportunities, participants are expected to be able to contribute to the preservation and promotion of socio-cultural treasures in their respective countries.
The ecosystem approach is an important aspect of disaster risk management. Integrating ecosystem-based disaster risk reduction refers to working on dynamic, iterative, and interactive issues and also promotes problem-based solutions. This course provides the participants with a thorough theoretical framework and presents practical tools for understanding the linkage between ecosystems and disaster occurrences.
This international Summer School is a collaboration between UGM (Indonesia) and renowned institutions in Switzerland (ISEK-UZH), Cambodia (RUPP), Vietnam (USSH-VNU), Myanmar (Mandalay University), and Thailand (Chiang Mai University). The objective of this Summer School is to combine innovative teaching approaches with research in intercultural teams. The overarching theme of this Summer School will be “After Covid? Work and Daily Life in Indonesia”. With this theme, we aim to explore the multitude of ways in which the pandemic has transformed and continues to affect the daily lives and work of people living in Yogyakarta.
The summer course on Smart-eco Bioproduction Agriculture (SC-SOBA) with the topic of “Climate-Smart Agriculture” is the continuation of the first SC-SOBA in 2021 that take the topic of “The Nexus between Traditional Ecological Knowledge and Modern Agricultural Practices” held by the Faculty of Agriculture UGM.
International Week (iWeek) 2022 is a summer course program initiated by the Faculty of Economics and Business in partnership with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia with the theme of “Post-pandemic Rebuild and Recovery: Entrepreneurship Survival, Business Resilience, and Wellbeing Economics”. The topics include mindful leadership, branding persona: partnership and enriching social skill set, digitalization of business, as well as accountability and good governance practices that help entrepreneurs. This program is worth three credits equivalent to 5 ECTS, involving academias, practitioners and policy makers as our speaker to discuss contemporary issues around the topics. We believe that, by bringing cross-disciplinary and multi stakeholder perspectives, we will be able to provide comprehensive and applicable insights on how to rebuild and recover businesses not only for students, but also for professionals joining the program.
Ki Ageng Suryomentaram (KAS) emerged with his breakthrough thoughts, which radically brought us back to the basic questions about who we are, what we are supposed to do, and where we are heading, in a much simpler and straightforward way. His conception of the presence of Kramadangsa, “our honest self”, exposed his disciples to the world of distinct phenomena, aside from the social and cultural concerns which are attached to humankind. The result of his continuous observation, crystallized into a form of a particular knowledge, which is known until now as “Kawruh Jiwa”, the Science of Self.
