Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) recently welcomed an official visit from Gaziantep University, Turkiye, on July 18, 2025. The visit aimed to discuss and explore potential collaborations between the two institutions, particularly with the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, and Faculty of Engineering.

The delegation from Gaziantep University was led by Prof. Dr. Fahrettin Göğüş, Vice Rector, and was warmly received by representatives from UGM, including Dr. Danang Sri Hadmoko, S.Si., M.Sc., Vice Rector for Research, Business Development and Partnerships, and several faculty representatives. During the meeting, both parties engaged in discussions on various partnership opportunities, including joint research and external supervision.

Prof. Göğüş expressed his enthusiasm for building closer ties with Indonesian institutions, especially UGM. “Indonesia is an important country for both short-term and long-term collaborations,” he stated.

UGM and Gaziantep University already share an established partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility, which facilitates the exchange of students and staff and contributes to international academic development. Since June 2025, there have been 9 mobility activities from both UGM and Gaziantep University, from staff exchange to guest lecturing.

“This collaboration through Erasmus is only a beginning,” said Dr. Danang. “We hope our partnership with Gaziantep University will continue to grow and expand into even more impactful academic collaborations.”

The courtesy meeting marked the conclusion of Gaziantep University’s three-day visit to UGM, during which the delegates also visited the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, and Faculty of Engineering. With this visit, both institutions expressed hope that their engagement will lead to stronger institutional ties and expanded cooperation in the future.
