The International Education Innovation Fund (IEIF) is a funding initiative by the Australian Government Department of Education that supports international education and research-collaboration activities, especially between Australia and partner countries.
Following the success of the first two rounds of the IEIF ASEAN Research Collaboration Project, we are excited to announce that applications are open for Round 3 of the Project.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
  • This project is administered by the Australian Government Department of Education through the International Education Innovation Fund (IEIF), delivered in partnership with the RMIT Asia Hub.
  • This program aims to support the careers of Early Career Researchers (ECRs). ECRs are researchers who have completed their PhD degree or equivalent within eight years of applying to participate. It will deliver ECR placements for ASEAN member states in Australian research institutions in shared priority areas. Through this initiative, selected recipients will receive up to AU$20,000 each to complete a one to three-month research placement at an Australian research institution.

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Be a citizen and/or permanent resident of an ASEAN member state or Timor Leste
  • Not be an Australian citizen and/or permanent resident
  • Have completed a PhD degree or equivalent within the eight years prior to applying to participate in this project (i.e., PhD was conferred from October 2017 onwards)
  • Be available to commence their proposed program in Australia after 2 February 2026 and complete the internship by 24 April 2026
  • Provide a research proposal which falls under one of the eligible research focus areas
  • Provide all relevant supporting documentation in English
  • Obtain a placement offer from an approved host Australian research organization (list provided in the IEIF – ASEAN Research Collaboration Project 2025 Guidelines (PDF 913 KB))
  • Meet the eligibility requirements to apply for and hold the relevant visa issued by the Department of Home Affairs

Students may choose between two programs:

  1. Global Frontiers in Japan – Participating students will learn about cutting-edge social issues in Japan, explore the technical and social solutions addressing them, and connect these issues with their own interests in relation to the SDGs.
  2. Frontier Engineering – Participating students will enhance their engineering expertise, experience UOsaka’s academic and industrial environments, and explore how their research connects to the SDGs and social issues.

Kumamoto University is located in the center of Kyushu Island in Japan and is rich in nature. The University has a hill clad in fresh greenery behind the campus, giving us a tranquil atmosphere for studies. KU is one of the oldest universities in Japan with seven faculties, eleven graduate schools, and 23 research centers/institutes (as of August 2017) that support a wide spectrum of educational and research activities. ABOUT THE PROGRAM 

  • This annual program is designed to support graduate students from ASEAN Member States (including Timor-Leste) and Korea who are eager to deepen their expertise in Southeast Asian and ASEAN studies. The grant provides fieldwork funding, mentorship, and opportunities for international networking with scholars and institutions across the region.

 

PROGRAM BENEFITS

  • Funding for up to 3 months of fieldwork in ASEAN countries or Korea (excluding one’s home country)
  • Round-trip airfare (up to USD 1,000) and a monthly stipend of USD 1,300
  • Participation in the ASEAN–Korea Young Scholar Workshop, with the chance to present research findings and engage with peers and mentors
  • Academic affiliation and guidance from host universities and local scholars

 

RESEARCH TOPICS:

The grant prioritizes a wide range of topics, from ASEAN studies and comparative or country-specific research to ASEAN-Korea relations.

  • ASEAN studies and ASEAN Member States specific country studies.
  • ASEAN-Korea studies and comparative research.
  • ASEAN-ROK cooperation priorities (e.g., gender, climate change, sustainable development, cyber security, peacebuilding).
  • ASEAN Post-2025 Vision themes (e.g., integration, connectivity, institutional development, identity politics, regional geopolitics).
  • Interdisciplinary studies in science, technology, and engineering with Southeast Asian relevance.

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Applicants must be graduate students (Master’s or Doctoral) who are citizens of ASEAN Member States, Timor-Leste, or Korea, and enrolled in accredited universities in their home country. Research must focus on ASEAN studies, ASEAN–Korea relations, or comparative topics aligned with ASEAN–Korea priorities.

 

REQUIREMENTS AND IMPLEMENTATIONS

Awardees will be affiliated with partner universities and research institutes during their fieldwork and will receive local mentorship and academic guidance. Fieldwork must complete by 30 April 2026. Recipients are required to submit:

  • ​​​Submit a mid-term report within 6 weeks after arrival at the fieldwork site.
  • Submit a final research report within 4 weeks of completing the fieldwork.
  • Join the ASEAN–Korea Young Scholar Workshop to present your findings (online, tentatively on June).

ELIGIBILITY

  1. Undergraduate students (S1) or Graduate students (S2/S3)
  2. Enrolled in Universitas Gadjah Mada during the program
  3. Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  4. Be proficient in English

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  1. Official Academic Transcript
  2. English Language Proficiency 
  3. Letter of Enrollment from Faculty
  4. Letter of Nomination from Faculty (addressed to the Head of Office of International Affairs UGM)
  5. Letter of Recommendation from the Academic Advisor
  6. Curriculum Vitae
  7. Motivation Letter
  8. Colored Copy of Passport
  9. Confirmation Letter of Participation (download) 
  10. Passport Size Photo 

 

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  1. Submit the aforementioned documents to UGM International Exposure Application Form: http://ugm.id/IntExposureApplication no later than 05 November 2025 for internal review.
  2. OIA staff will evaluate your application. Once you are selected as Nominated Applicants, OIA will confirm your official nomination to Üsküdar University and you may proceed to the online application no later than 30 December 2025.
  3. The FINAL decision is from Üsküdar University.

 

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
  • In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id)

Greetings from Indonesian Scholarship and Research Support Foundation (ISRSF)!

The Indonesian Scholarship and Research Support Foundation (ISRSF), or Yayasan Beasiswa dan Dukungan Penelitian Indonesian, is an organization created in 2012 by Indonesian and American scholars to promote social science research in Indonesia by Indonesians. The Foundation is an independent non-profit, and non-partisan philanthropic organization that channels financial support from a diverse group Indonesian donors.

We are pleased to inform you that the application for Arryman Scholarship 2026  is now open for Universitas Gadjah Mada students.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

  • As part of ISRSF commitment to support Indonesian social scientists, they have established a new scholarship for Indonesian economists at SOAS University of London. Recipients of SOAS Arryman Scholarships will receive support for studies leading to a doctoral degree in economics, economic policy, development economics, or international development studies.

  • Postdoc at the Institutes for Advanced Research (IFAR Consortium) upon graduation

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Indonesian citizens, not older than 35 years.
  • Having a strong commitment to return to Indonesia as a full-time scholar upon completion of the PhD degree.
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree (Strata 1) with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
