Founded by the Kochi prefectural government, KUT ambitiously set its sights in becoming a world-class university through the pursuit of unique excellence. KUT’s revolutionary design, introducing innovations contributed greatly to development in university education. Despite its relatively small scale, KUT has had a strong presence with its distinctive character and progressive education system. Notably, KUT took the lead in adopting a quarter system to enable intensive learning. Valuing student autonomy, KUT has no compulsory courses.

Dato Lim Jock Hoi, Secretary-General of ASEAN said “At a time when the world is facing an unprecedented challenge in COVID-19, we see the best of humanity through the sacrificial efforts of frontline medical and health workers, and those who keep essential public services running at great risks to their lives. Their examples remind us that there are many heroes out there and we should shine a light in their work.” He emphasized that the “ASEAN Prize is one way that ASEAN honors their outstanding contributions to our community.”

The Graduate Institute Geneva (IHEID) was created in 1927 at the time of the League of Nations. It was then the first academic institution in the world entirely devoted to the study of international affairs. Its vocation is to analyze and stimulate critical thinking in the fields of international relations and development issues through its teaching (master and Ph.D. programs), research, executive education, and public events.

We are excited to announce that IHEID has adapted its Summer Programmes to an online format allowing students from all over the world to gain insight into International Affairs, the United Nations, as it marks its 75th anniversary and Global Challenges from wherever they are. IHEID invites Universitas Gadjah Mada students to explore key issues in the contemporary world by attending lectures and workshops. Each week is directed by a renowned faculty member and practitioners from International Organisations in Geneva.
