Tokyo University of Foreign Studies is the oldest academic institution devoted to international studies in Japan. It began as the Institute for Research of Foreign Documents (蛮書調所, Bansho Shirabesho), a Tokugawa shogunate’s translation bureau set up in 1857.It was subsequently established as an independent educational and research institution with the name Tokyo School of Foreign Languages (東京外国語学校, Tōkyō gaikokugo gakkō) in 1899.

The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) is an autonomous public university in Singapore founded by Thomas L. Magnanti. From its inception in April 2012 until December 2014, SUTD’s interim campus was located at the former ITE College Dover campus in Dover. Its permanent campus, which debuted in January 2015 and is accessible via Upper Changi Station on the Downtown MRT Line, is situated close to Changi Business Park. It is the only university in Singapore’s eastern region as of 2018. SUTD chose DP Architects Pte. Ltd. and UNStudio from Amsterdam through an open selection process to design the academic cluster of its permanent campus in Upper Changi.

Tongji University (Chinese: ; pinyin: Tóngj Dàxué) is a Shanghai-based comprehensive public research university. Tongji University, founded in 1907 in Shanghai by the German government and German physicians, is one of China’s oldest, most selective, and most prestigious universities under the Project 985 and Double First Class University Plan. It is a Chinese state university of Class A Double First Class. Engineering, architecture, and business programs at Tongji University are well-known.The university’s faculty includes 27 members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and 27 members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. [8] Tongji University currently operates 29 colleges, 8 affiliated hospitals, and 6 affiliated primary and secondary schools.
