Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in collaboration with Ritsumeikan University (RU) has succesfully execute the first joint initiative, “the Ritsumeikan University – Global Fieldwork Program (GFP) 2024”. The program, themed “Introduction to Indonesian Social and Cultural Studies,” aims to foster collaboration and offer an immersive cultural experience to RU students away from Japan.

On 24 November 2023, a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on Global Strategic Partnership was signed between UGM and Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA). Founded in 1952, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) is one of higher education institutions for aviation in China. Since its foundation, NUAA has developed into a high-level university characterized with aeronautics, astronautics, and civil aviation. Its multiple disciplines range from science and technology to management sciences, natural sciences, humanities and social sciences.
6 International students from 4 different countries in Universitas Gadjah Mada went to Banggai Kepulauan, Central Sulawesi on Saturday, August 5th 2023. This series of events is part of the UGM KKN International and is summarized in a program titled Summer Course: Travel with Experts.
For the fifth time, Indonesia is honored to be the Chair of ASEAN. This year, Indonesia’s leadership in ASEAN carries the theme “ASEAN Matters: Epicenter of Growth“. Through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, the Republic of Indonesia, in collaboration with the Council of Rectors of Indonesian State University (CRISU) Universitas Padjadjaran, in Bandung, Indonesia, as the event organizer, hosted a 10-webinar series of the ASEAN Higher Education Conference 2023 with the general theme, “Higher Education: a Catalyst for Growth“. This webinar series brought in keynote speakers from every ASEAN country to discuss various issues related to quality assurance and mobility between universities in ASEAN, in relation to the interconnection between industries and universities in innovating digital transformation. Under the theme “Post Covid Sustainable Health Care and Industry”, Universitas Gadjah Mada became one of the co-hosts for the 10th Webinar Series held on August 9, 2023.
Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and Kyushu University, Japan have collaborated since 2005 with many implementation programs in the field of education and research. In continuing the established collaboration to become more comprehensive and sustainable, UGM and Kyushu University conducted a joint event named “KYUDAI NOW and Summer Camp at Universitas Gadjah Mada” that was held on 28 – 30 August 2023. The event aims to share the current update of research and academic achievement of UGM and Kyushu University.

Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) is one of the ASEAN University Network Board of Trustees (AUN-BOT) and being part of this network since it was formed in 1995. The AUN was established to address the need for the region to quickly develop a regional identity and solidarity while promoting the fostering of ASEAN talents by creating a platform to allow the region’s leading higher institutions to collaborate. Being one the AUN-BOT, the UGM’s Rector and university leaderships always attend the AUN Rectors’ Meeting and AUN BOT Meeting to share thoughts and insight with other members towards giving a contribution to the region’s development. The strong commitment of UGM in the network is also seen in joining most of the AUN Thematic Networks like AUN-QA, AUN-BE, AUN/SEED-Net, AUN-HRE, AUN-USR&S, AUN-ACT, AUN-EEC and many more.
The pantheon of alumni, impactful research products, and community services spreading across this nation bear testament to Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM)’s active contribution to the progress and growth of Indonesia. UGM’s vision, however, is not merely confined to working for the nation. UGM is also striving to contribute to the betterment of humanity and to be present where its contribution is needed. One of the countries that received this contribution is Namibia. Located in southern Africa, Namibia recently celebrated its 32th birthday after its independence in 1990.
