Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in collaboration with Ritsumeikan University (RU) has succesfully  execute the first joint initiative, “the Ritsumeikan University – Global Fieldwork Program (GFP) 2024”. The program, themed “Introduction to Indonesian Social and Cultural Studies,” aims to foster collaboration and offer an immersive cultural experience to RU students away from Japan.

Dominic Jermey CVO, OBE (British Ambassador to Indonesia and Timor Leste) paid an ambassadorial visit to UGM, along with Juliana Ritcher (Deputy Head of Second Cities), Melisa Kusuma (Regional Outreach Manager for Central Java & Yogyakarta), Faye Belnis (Spokesperson), and Bianka Syarief (Media & Communication Team. H.E. Dominic Jermey and representatives from the British Embassy were cordially welcomed by Prof. Dr. Wening Udasmoro, S.S., M.Hum., DEA., (Vice Rector for Education and Teaching), Ir. Wiratni, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IPM. (Deputy Director of Partnerships & Global Relations), as well as representatives from Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Psychology, Faculty of Economics and Business, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Graduate School, Vocational School, Directorate of Education and Learning.

UGM signed a cooperation agreement with a Russian software developer for transportation modeling.

An official signing ceremony of the agreement on the transfer of the academic license of the Russian software TransNet to Universitas Gadjah Mada for inclusion in the educational program was held on September 27 within the framework of the International Exhibition Elektrotrans 2023 in Moscow. The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Berlian Helmy, Vice Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Russia, representatives of the university Prof. Puji Astuti, Ph.D. (Director of Partnerships and Global Relations), Mr. Ir. Ikaputra, M.Eng., Ph.D. (Head of Transportation and Logistics Study Center), and Prof. Alexander Polyakov, С.Eng, (Professor, co-founder of TransNet LLC).

On October 6th, 2023, Prof. Clare McManus (Dean for Global Engagement – South East Asia & Australasia), Prof. Cristina Persano (International Dean, College of Science and Engineering), and Alfin Firdaus (International Officer, Indonesia) from the University of Glasgow (UofG) visited UGM to discuss potential collaborations between UGM and UofG. Prof. Cristina was warmly welcomed by representatives from Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Geography. On the other hand, Prof. Clare and Mr. Alfin Firdaus were received by representatives from Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics and Business, and Faculty of Psychology.
