With the success of the annual #CONVERGE virtual program in (watch the 2021 highlights here), Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) Centre for Experiential Learning would like to invite students of Universitas Gadjah Mada to join #CONVERGE4 Latin America. This program will be held virtually from 12 to 28 September 2022 and is specially curated for all undergraduates passionate to collaborate on a social impact business project with local social entrepreneurs and communities in the Latin America Region. The Faculty of Forestry Summer Course (FFSC) is an annual event that discusses sustainable tropical forest management. This year, FFSC will carry the theme “Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Strategies in Sustainable Tropical Forest Management.” FFSC will involve lecturers and experts in the forestry sector from Indonesia and internationally who are experienced in their fields. We invite active undergraduate and postgraduate students nationally and internationally to join this course. Participants will learn about approaches and methods of sustainable forest management starting from the planning process, silviculture, forest product management, commercialization of forest products, forest resource conservation, forest policies, and agendas that affect tropical forest sustainability and global climate change.

WAFERS summer course 2022 raises the challenges from three nexus of water, food and energy for young engineers. This virtual course will give students a broader perspective on water-food-energy (WAFERS) issues as well as offering a number of solutions such as changing consumer behavior as well as adopting suitable technology to tackle numerous environmental problems. The WAFERS summer course is organized by the Department of Chemical Engineering and Office of International Affairs (OIA) Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia. This course is equivalent to 3 credit semesters which is applicable for undergraduate and master students.

The 3rd GREAT International Summer Course 2022 invites participants to explore knowledge about how digital transformation and internet revolution support and affect our socio-cultural life by developing various digital technology and creativity processes. In addition to gaining knowledge, experiences, and networking opportunities, participants are expected to be able to contribute to the preservation and promotion of socio-cultural treasures in their respective countries.

The ecosystem approach is an important aspect of disaster risk management. Integrating ecosystem-based disaster risk reduction refers to working on dynamic, iterative, and interactive issues and also promotes problem-based solutions. This course provides the participants with a thorough theoretical framework and presents practical tools for understanding the linkage between ecosystems and disaster occurrences.

This international Summer School is a collaboration between UGM (Indonesia) and renowned institutions in Switzerland (ISEK-UZH), Cambodia (RUPP), Vietnam (USSH-VNU), Myanmar (Mandalay University), and Thailand (Chiang Mai University). The summer course on Smart-eco Bioproduction Agriculture (SC-SOBA) with the topic of “Climate-Smart Agriculture” is the continuation of the first SC-SOBA in 2021 that take the topic of “The Nexus between Traditional Ecological Knowledge and Modern Agricultural Practices” held by the Faculty of Agriculture UGM.

International Week (iWeek) 2022 is a summer course program initiated by the Faculty of Economics and Business in partnership with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia with the theme of “Post-pandemic Rebuild and Recovery: Entrepreneurship Survival, Business Resilience, and Wellbeing Economics”. The topics include mindful leadership, branding persona: partnership and enriching social skill set, digitalization of business, as well as accountability and good governance practices that help entrepreneurs. This program is worth three credits equivalent to 5 ECTS, involving academias, practitioners and policy makers as our speaker to discuss contemporary issues around the topics. We believe that, by bringing cross-disciplinary and multi stakeholder perspectives, we will be able to provide comprehensive and applicable insights on how to rebuild and recover businesses not only for  students, but also for professionals joining the program.
