UM International Week (UM iWeek 2020) will be held virtually for 5 days starting from 23 to 26 November 2020. The three overarching pillars of UM iWeek 2020 are Mobility Opportunities, Cultural Exchange, and Knowledge Sharing.

Mobility Opportunities : Studying abroad can change one’s perspective, level of adaptation and broadening one’s vision and outlook  through cultural appreciation and adaptation while studying abroad in a new environment in the interaction with different people from various backgrounds. 

Cultural Exchange : In the advent of globalisation and a borderless world, cultural diversity has always been the most fascinating element for us to explore. Culture is the element of unity. The arts & heritage of every society are worth understanding and cherishing as well as embracing the differences of different cultures and traditions.

Knowledge Sharing : Sharing of knowledge is to achieve a better tomorrow.  Knowledge is a powerful tool and can be used and shared with others in achieving greater milestones. Several special lectures and staff training workshops have been planned throughout UM iWEEK 2020.

Due to Covid-19, DREaM 2020 will be conducted virtually while still adapting to the existing DREaM content that has been implemented for the last eleven years. The theme of Virtual DREaM 2020 is “Resilience Amidst Global Pandemic”. Despite disadvantages caused by pandemic, many lessons on resilience can be obtained from various sources in a variety of fields.

 

DREaM 2020 will present speakers who represent the academic world, researchers, policy makers, entrepreneurs, and society. Together with those people, the participants will be involved in a series of discussions, ideas exchange, as well as taking opportunities and facing obstacles from the relationship between the sphere of each influence. Through DREaM 2020, students from all over the world can learn more about issues related to the theme, as well as learn various experiences and good practice in facing the global challenges that arise due to the pandemic

  • The exchange program in Fall Semester AY 2020 was cancelled. For students who would like to postpone your program to Spring 2021, we request that you get nomination by your university again and re-apply for the program by following the steps below.
  • The exchange program in Spring Semester AY 2021 is planned to be conducted face-to-face. However, there is a possibility that the program will be changed to online or cancelled depending on the COVID-19 situation and the state of travel conditions including entry restrictions by Japanese government.

  • This exchange program is conducted online only, Macquarie University will not issue a Confirmation of Enrolment for Visa purposes, as your students won’t be able to enter the country. Even if travel restrictions are lifted during session 1, 2021, Macquarie University will not issue a Confirmation of Enrolment for Visa purposes. The students can select to study between 1 to 4 units during their exchange program.
  • For exchange balances purposes, if you study 1 or 2 units, we will count them as 0.5-semester spots. If you study 3 or 4 units, we will count them as a 1-semester spot. You can only select units that are offered fully online – this includes both lectures and tutorials. You may be required to attend live classes or tutorials, so we advise they check the time difference between your home country and Australia when selecting the units.

Chubu University was established in April 1984 as a technical university for the Chubu region. In April 1998 it added the College of Humanities. It now has 7 colleges and 30 departments in the arts and sciences. It was founded as a pre-eminent technical university.

Notes From Chubu University

  • Although Chubu University plans to accept exchange students for the 2021 Spring semester, we cannot eliminate the possibility that they cannot visit Japan. We would appreciate it if you could inform us whether your students would like to take online classes for Japanese language and undergraduate courses from your country or withdraw their application if they cannot come to Japan.
  • If we need to switch to online courses, the Japanese Language Program will be able to deliver online. Undergraduate courses also will be able to do that online; however, some classes might not be registered due to instructors’ decisions.
  • In the 2020 fall semester, all classes for the Japanese Language Program are face-to-face classes. While undergraduate courses are either or both face-to-face and online classes. It’s hard to predict the situation in 2021 spring, but it’s possible to shift to entirely face-to-face or online.
