UGM and Dalhousie University Canada Explore Opportunities for Academic Collaboration

Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) recently welcomed a delegation from Dalhousie University, Canada, on Thursday, March 5, 2026, to discuss opportunities for strengthening academic collaboration between the two institutions.

The meeting focused on exploring potential partnerships in several areas, including student exchange programs, capacity building initiatives, and collaborative academic research. The visit reflects the shared interest of both universities in expanding international engagement and fostering meaningful cooperation in higher education.

Representing Dalhousie University were Balakrishnan Prithiviraj, the Associate Vice President of Global Relations and David Parks as the International Program Officer, who were warmly welcomed by representatives from various faculties and units at UGM, including the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Economics and Business, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, and Faculty of Law.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged ideas and shared their institutional strengths, with discussions taking place in a productive and cordial atmosphere. The dialogue highlighted the potential for collaboration across multiple disciplines, particularly in areas that support academic innovation and global learning opportunities.

Founded in Nova Scotia, Canada, Dalhousie University is a publicly funded, research-intensive institution. According to the QS World University Rankings 2026, Dalhousie is ranked 283rd globally, with its Petroleum Engineering program ranked within the 51–100 range worldwide. The university is home to more than 21,000 students, including international students from over 115 countries, reflecting its strong global outlook.

The visit marked an important step toward strengthening ties between UGM and Dalhousie University. Through continued dialogue and collaboration, both institutions hope to develop meaningful partnerships that will contribute to academic excellence, research advancement, and the exchange of knowledge between Indonesia and Canada.
