Greetings from South Korea!

On December 10, 1996, the May 18 Institute CNU was established for academic research on the May 18 Democratization Movement as well as the purpose to uphold and inherit the spirit and meaning of the movement. The institute has been conducting various research on democracy, human rights, and peace in Korea and Asia, cooperating with domestic and foreign civil societies that have striven to realize the values of human rights and peace.

We are pleased to inform you that the application for Fully Funded Global NGO Master’s Program in South Korea is now open.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

  • We aim to educate global NGO workers and the next generation leaders who will help transform nonprofit, social enterprises, international NGOs, social services agencies, art, and cultural institutions, foundations, and advocacy and volunteer organizations in Asia and Africa. We encourage anyone with a passion for the promotion of social change, human rights, democratization, local community development, solidarity across borders, and humanitarian aid.

 

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • Full tuition coverage
  • Specialized training in NGO leadership and global networking

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Having interested in research on human rights, democracy, and peace
  • Holding a BA degree
  • Possessing English language proficiency
  • Legally and physically able to study for two years

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • Completed application form
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • A scanned copy of valid passport
  • A copy of diploma/certificate from an academic institution
  • Physical examination report (including TB test result)
  • A recommendation letter
  • Official Certificate for English language proficiency

 

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  1. Apply directly to The May 18 Institute CNU. Kindly refer to Application Guide Website.
  2. The deadline is 20 October 2025.
  3. The FINAL decision is from The May 18 Institute CNU.

 

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
  • In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id)
