Tokai University is a private university located in Tokyo, Japan. It is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the country. The university was founded in 1885 as Igirisu Horitsu Gakko (English Law School) by a group of legal scholars, and it has since evolved into a comprehensive university offering a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs in various fields.
We are pleased to inform you that the application for Tokai University MEXT Scholarship 2026 for Universitas Gadjah Mada students.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
- Graduate School of Engineering at Tokai University was selected by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) to award “Monbukagakusho Scholarships in FY 2025 The International Priority Graduate Programs (PGP)”. For the next three years, Course of Information Science
and Technology, Graduate School of Engineering is accepting applications for the program. - Name of the program: Leadership Development for Evidence-Based Design in ASEAN Countries.

- Admission quota: 3 students
ELIGIBILITY
- Undergraduate students (S1) or Graduate students (S2/S3)
- Enrolled in Universitas Gadjah Mada during the program
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Be proficient in English and/or Japanese

- Letter of Nomination from Faculty (addressed to the Head of Office of International Affairs UGM)
- Letter of Recommendation from the Academic Advisor

- Motivation Letter
- Colored Copy of Passport
- Confirmation Letter of Participation (download)
- Passport Size Photo (Two photos)
- Application Form for the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship
- Field of Study and Research Plan specified by Japanese Government (MEXT)
- A certificate of excellent academic performance from the last university attended
- Legalized Diploma / Graduate Certificate
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
- Submit the aforementioned documents to UGM International Exposure Application Form: http://ugm.id/IntExposureApplication no later than 16 January 2026 for internal review.
- OIA staff will evaluate your application. Once you are selected as Nominated Applicants, OIA will confirm your official nomination to Tokai University and you may proceed to the online application.
- The FINAL decision is from Tokai University.
IMPORTANT NOTES
- In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
- In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id)
