Faculty of Dentistry Universitas Gadjah Mada proudly presents the International Dental Summer Course 2025 “Transforming Oral Health Care: Implementing Digital Dentistry for Special Needs Communities”.

Offering a meaningful and innovative academic experience, this program welcomes international participants who are passionate about digital dentistry and inclusive oral health care. This summer course explores essential topics such as the application of digital technology in dentistry, interdisciplinary approaches to special needs care, and the role of innovation in creating equitable oral health services.

Participants will join insightful online lectures by global experts, followed by an engaging in-person session in Yogyakarta, featuring clinical workshops, site visits, and cultural immersion. The course aims to foster international collaboration, knowledge sharing, and hands-on experiences in transforming future dental care.

Venue: Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia

Learning Outcomes

After participating in this program, participants are expected to be able to:

  1. Participants will be able to understand the basics and developments of digital technology currently available in Indonesia and in various other countries for application in inclusive oral health.
  2. ⁠Participants will be able to understand the importance of digital technology innovation, the ethical aspects of using digital technology in dentistry, future development opportunities, challenges, and alternative solutions in implementing digital dentistry for the special needs community.
  3. ⁠Participants will be able to provide ideas and innovations for updating patient care using programs/applications/products related to digital technology and to implement for special needs communities that can be initiated and developed.
  4. ⁠Participants will be able to understand the basics of determining care for special needs communities from various aspects, including medical and psychological perspectives.

 

Learning Method

The course will employ a hybrid approach, combining online and in-person. Participants will engage in:

  • Online class and Offline class lectures from academics and practitioners in dentistry and psychology
  • Group discussions to encourage collaborative problem-solving and exchange of ideas
  • Community service in disability center and special needs school
  • ⁠Tour the Faculty of Dentistry Universitas Gadjah Mada
  • ⁠Hands On from Tutor of Psychology Lecture and Engineering Lecture
  • ⁠Field trips and Cultural Sightseeing to several local tourism and various destinations in Yogyakarta

Eligibility Criteria for Participants

Undergraduate and postgraduate students in dentistry

 

Registration

Fee: USD 300 for International Participants

Include:

  • Hotel accommodation (shared room) for 5 nights in Yogyakarta*
  • Airport train ticket (Yogyakarta International Airport – city center)*
  • Breakfast (hotel), lunch during the event, and one Gala Dinner
  • Cultural sightseeing tour (Lava Tour, Keraton, Taman Sari – subject to confirmation)
  • Visa fee (C9 Visa – Short Course Visa)
  • Summer course kit and certificate
