AIESEC in UGM in collaboration with the Office of International Affairs (OIA) UGM hosted Global Village 2025 at the Gelanggang Inovasi dan Kreativitas (GIK) UGM on Saturday, February 8, 2025.

With the theme Game On: Let’s Start the Cultural Quest, this event marked the first Global Village organized by AIESEC in UGM after a hiatus due to the pandemic. Global Village is a cultural festival aimed at introducing the rich diversity of cultures around the world, including Indonesia.

The event featured three main activities: cultural booths, country parade, and artistic performances by both Indonesian and international students. Aside from Indonesia, a total of eight countries participated in this year’s event: France, Nigeria, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Japan, and Thailand.

At their respective booths, the international students showcased their various cultural elements from their home countries, ranging from traditional food to interactive mini-games. In addition to managing their booths, some students also had the opportunity to perform on stage, presenting traditional songs and dances.

The lively and interactive atmosphere was reflected in the enthusiasm from the visitors. They moved from booth to booth, engaging with international students, sampling traditional food, and trying out mini-games.

One of the participating international students, Nguyen Bui Minh Anh from Vietnam, shared her positive experience at the event.

“The Global Village event was really great,” said Anh, who is currently pursuing a master’s degree in International Relations at Fisipol UGM. “I made a booth about Vietnam with some typical things, like traditional sweets during Tet (New Year’s celebrations in Vietnam), handmade art. I am very happy that many students are also interested in my booth. Thank you AIESEC UGM, I hope there will be more cultural events in the future!”

Meanwhile, Eugenia Novera Kwang, the head committee of Global Village 2025, stated that the event ran smoothly and received an overwhelming response from both participants and visitors.

“At AIESEC in UGM, we hope this event provides students with a new perspective on the vast cultural diversity worldwide, while also reaffirming AIESEC’s commitment to foster meaningful cross-cultural exchange,” she concluded.
