[NOTICE] Important Pre-Departure Information for Students Who Want to Visit Japan

As a request from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology of Japan, we would like to announce to you the prohibition of bringing livestock products into Japan due to its outbreaks of malignant animal infectious diseases such as African Swine Fever (ASF). In case if you will depart to Japan for an international exposure program, please not to bring those prohibited items.

Please understand the details below.

  1. It is subject to a penalty in case of confirmation of livestock products such as egg, meat products which include sausage, jerky, meat ban, dumplings, etc. in passenger baggage, post items, or any other belongings which you are bringing into Japan.
  2. Imprisonment of 3 years or less or a fine of 1 million yen or less will be imposed, when importing livestock products into Japan.
  3. Not only the students but also their family and/or friends need to be aware of the prohibition of bringing livestock products into Japan. Thus, make sure to obey the prohibition in case if you are planning to visit Japan or planning to send the package to Japan.

Chuo University was founded as the Igirisu Horitsu Gakko (English Law School) in 1885.
