Courtesy Visit of European Union Ambassador to UGM

Rector of UGM, Prof. Ir. Panut Mulyono, M.Eng., D.Eng., IPU, ASEAN Eng., welcomed the courtesy visit paid by the Ambassador of the European Union to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam, H.E. Vincent Piket, on Tuesday (20/4). The Ambassador has been representing the European Union in Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam since 2019 and this marks his first visit to UGM since his appointment.

UGM expressed its gratitude for the Ambassador’s visit and shared about its long-term built cooperation with its European partners, particularly in the field of academics and research. Based on UGM’s student outgoing mobility statistics, Europe is one of the most favorite destinations for international academic programs, particularly for the availability of programs tailored for international students such as the Erasmus+. UGM is also a member of joint academic and research collaboration with European universities of which Indonesia is also one of the founding members, namely ASIA-UNINET.

Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) is a Government of Indonesia scholarship scheme to fund Indonesian students on mobility program to overseas universities.  IISMA is designed to accommodate undergraduate students to spend one semester (approximately 16 weeks) at university partner to study, experience host country culture, and do practical assignments to hone their skills. This program is centrally managed by Directorate General of Higher Education, Kemdikbud (Ministry of Education and Culture or MoEC) through the Sub Pokja Merdeka Global. Application of participation is open for undergraduate students from all Indonesian higher education institutions.

We are pleased to announce that the application for the APMA Scholarship Program 2021 is now open for Universitas Gadjah Mada civitas.

The APMA Scholarship Program is a collaboration between the Department of Politics and Government of Gadjah Mada University with a consortium of universities in Asia (Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies Mahidol University Thailand, Kathmandu School of Law Nepal, Ateneo de Manila Law School the Philippines, University of Colombo Center for the Study of Human Rights).

ITS Indonesia and SIT Japan hand-in-hand initiate Unveiling the Virtue of Great Urban Places in Asia program. Led by the great mind of Prof. Shunji Suzuki (2019) in Great Urban Places in Asia, participants of this program will be guided to sense and reflect on the values of various great urban places in Asia so that we do not see those places as musty and unpleasant, but rather places with values behind them.

From Urban Planning and Architecture understanding, we are going to dive deeper into something intangible. We are going to explore something beyond the cities and buildings, it is what we called a virtue. There is a social, culture, and economy behind those physical things that need to be aware of. From this self-reflection, we can have a better understanding of life and the surroundings.
