ABOUT THE PROGRAM

  • This workshop aims to support researchers in crafting competitive grant applications for success, particularly, collaborative research grants across countries.
  • This session will explore opportunities for engagement between researchers in Australia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia.

 

WORKSHOP FACILITATORS

  • Madonna Devaney is Associate Director, Research Collaboration and Pre-Award at The University of Queensland. With over 20 years of experience across both academic and professional research roles, she has led major interdisciplinary initiatives and supported the development of programs that drive innovation and social impact. At UQ, Madonna oversees teams that enable research success through strategic planning, collaborative program design, and effective support for competitive funding.
  • Rylie Moran is Senior Manager, Pre-Award in the University of Queensland’s Research Office, where she leads the team that supports all competitive research grant applications from UQ — around 3,000 applications each year. Since 2015, she has worked across all aspects of grant applications, supporting researchers from every discipline and across a wide range of funding schemes.

Kansai University was founded as Kansai Law School in November 1886, in the large commercial city of Osaka. Its founders consisted of a dozen people who were judicial officers and businesspersons. Kansai University has seen remarkable development over its many years. The University celebrated its 133rd anniversary in 2019. Kansai University has 13 faculties, 13 graduate schools, and three professional graduate schools, as well as a preparatory course for international students. Over its long history, all those involved in building its institution have had to overcome various hardships to achieve such prestigious standing.

We are pleased to inform you that the application for KU-EOL Fall 2025, Kansai University Online Program is now open for Universitas Gadjah Mada students.

 

Program Information

 

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

  • Originally launched in 2020, this program allows students outside of Japan to participate in selected courses offered by Kansai University online and free of charge. Students from partner universities are invited to apply and join their KU peers to take part in interactive online courses and collaborative online international learning (COIL) projects. Fall 2025 courses will take place 100% online between September and November (7 weeks) and lectures will be held once a week.

  • Japanese Popular Culture (Postwar Japanese Culture)

 

ELIGIBILITY

  1. Undergraduate students (S1) or Graduate students (S2/S3)
  2. Enrolled in Universitas Gadjah Mada during the program
  3. Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  4. Be proficient in English

  2. OIA staff will evaluate your application. Once you are selected as Nominated Applicants, OIA will confirm your official nomination to Kansai University and you may proceed to the online application no later than 12 September 2025.
  3. The FINAL decision is from Kansai University.

  • In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.

We are pleased  to invite Universitas Gadjah mada students to participate in the Japan-ASEAN Online Program Towards SDGs 2025. This interactive and inspiring online workshop focuses on “Actions Students Can Take on Environmental Issues” and offers a unique opportunity for intercultural exchange.

Co-organized by Chiba University, Okayama University, SUN/SixERS, and AUN, the program aims to enhance cross-cultural understanding and encourage collaborative problem-solving among students from diverse backgrounds.

  • Theme: Intercultural Exchange Workshop on Environmental Issues

  • Platform: Zoom and Miro (online collaborative tool)

  • Participation Fee: Free

 

Key Highlights

  • Interactive group work with peers from ASEAN and Japan.
  • Lectures and individual tasks focusing on practical actions for sustainability.
  • Presentation of group projects with feedback from experts.
  • Certification of completion (attendance rate of 80% or higher required).

 

Program Objectives

  • Explore solutions to pressing environmental issues related to SDG Goals 7 (energy), 11 (urban air pollution, greenery), 12 (waste, food loss, plastic problems, etc.), 13 (climate change), 14 (oceans), and 15 (forests).
  • Enhance intercultural communication skills through group discussions and collaborative work.
  • Foster mutual understanding and respect for cultural and individual differences.

 

Participant Information

  • Eligibility: Students from AUN and SUN/SixERS member universities interested in the SDGs.
  • Participant Limit: 50 (30-40 from AUN; 10-20 from SixERS).
  • Selection Criteria: Based on the quality of application responses and English proficiency, if applications exceed the limit.
