Greetings from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi!

Indian Institute of Technology Mandi (IIT Mandi) is an autonomous engineering and technology university located in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, India. It is one of the eight new Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

Recently, the Indian Government has taken an initiative for providing scholarships to students from ASEAN countries for pursuing Ph.D. programs at different Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in India. We would like to encourage the students of Universitas Gadjah Mada to apply to different Ph.D. programs at the Indian Institute of Technology Mandi (the only IIT in the Himalayan mountains). An A4-sized brochure detailing different Ph.D. programs at our IIT and a link to submitting student applications is attached for this purpose. (download)

The last date for submitting applications is 31st October 2019, and we would like to sincerely encourage UGM students to apply to IIT Mandi under this scholarship scheme.

P.S.: The tuition fee at IIT Mandi is one of the lowest among all IITs.

We are writing to inform you of the Japanese Government Scholarship programs for those students who are planning on earning their degrees at Tokyo Tech. Successful applicants can start their study from September 2020.

Tokyo Tech offers the following programs for which graduate-level students can apply. Interested students can apply for either of these programs, but it is not possible to apply to both programs simultaneously.

1) Research Student Program

For the Research Student Program starting from September 2020, MEXT scholarship recipients will enroll in Tokyo Tech as Research Students (non-degree students). Scholarship recipients who have demonstrated excellent academic achievement and who have passed the entrance examination for April 2022 or earlier may be eligible to enroll in Tokyo Tech’s master’s or doctoral programs and to extend the duration of the MEXT Scholarship under certain conditions.

Students from universities which have formal agreements with Tokyo Tech will be given priority consideration for this program.

Jeonbuk National University (JBNU; 전북대학교; 全北大學校; Jeonbuk Daehakgyo) formerly called Chonbuk National University (CBNU) is located in the historical city of Jeonju, Republic of Korea. It was founded in 1947 by the provincial fund within the framework of the Korean national university system, following the liberation of the country.

JBNU has grown to 17 colleges (including Faculty of Public Policy and Jimmy Carter School of International Studies) and 14 graduate schools (one general, nine specialized and four professional schools). With the addition of the new College of Contemporary Education, Chubu University has become a comprehensive university encompassing 7 colleges and 30 departments in the arts and sciences. Initially established as a pre-eminent technical university for the Chubu region, in April 1984 Chubu University added to its original College of Engineering, the College of Business Administration and Information Science, and the College of International Studies. April 1998 saw the foundation of the College of Humanities, and in April of 2001, the university opened its newest faculty, the College of Bioscience and Biotechnology. In April 2006, the College of Life and Health Sciences was opened, and on April 2008, the College of Contemporary Education was established.

Characteristics of the university are its establishment of a structure that is truly comprehensive, including studies of the fields of nature, society, and the humanities at its six colleges and twenty-one departments of arts and science. The university has created an academic environment in which students can study beyond the spheres of each department or college. Considered extremely important is the combination of fostering a multi-lateral outlook while gaining in-depth specialization. The university strives to educate students who can contribute fully to a 21st-century society – providing knowledge in the arts to technology students, as well as teaching the fundamentals of science to those majoring in the humanities. Greetings from the YSEP team at the Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech).

Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech) offers YSEP (Young Scientist Exchange Program), which gives you the unique opportunity to experience the Research Project under direct guidance of an experienced professor as well as related subjects and Japanese language. From AY 2009-2010, we are conducting two YSEP programs named “YSEP Focused on Research” (YFR, 1-year program) and the “YSEP for Experiencing Japan” (YEJ, half-year program). The program is all conducted in English.

Eligibility

At the time of participation, the student must be enrolled at a Tokyo Tech partner
university1 and
a) have completed at least two and a half years of study in a four-year bachelor’s degree program, or
b) have completed at least two years of a three-year bachelor’s degree program, or
c) be enrolled in a master’s degree program

Period of Study

One Academic Semester (=2 Quarters) at Tokyo Tech:
From September to February
The study period cannot be extended.

Curriculum

Compulsory Courses (6 credits), comprising
– Research Project (4 credits)
– Topics on Japan (1 credit)
– Study on Japanese Companies and Industries (1 credit)
Participants may also take other courses at Tokyo Tech for which they are qualified
(Undergraduate students, with permission, may take courses indicated in the List of Graduate Courses Available to Undergraduate-Level International Exchange Students, as well as courses from GSEP, our English language-taught bachelor’s degree program. Graduate students may enroll in any courses for which they are qualified. Many courses in our graduate program are provided in English), including Japanese language courses and courses taught in Japanese.

The Faculty of Literature And Social Science of Yamagata University is opening registration for all students from all around the world to study in Japan for the Graduate School Program.

The Graduate School of Social and Cultural Systems has two Master’s programs: Cultural Systems and Social Systems.

In special cases, research results on the designated topic may be accepted in lieu of a thesis.

Applications for the entrance examination for admission in April 2020 will be accepted from August 1 to August 30, 2019 (First Application Period), and from December 2 to December 20, 2019 (Second Application Period).
