Started with one of my dream bucket list “before i graduated, i will go to Japan for exchange program” and in 2019 i success to make it happen. Having experienced living in Japan, specially Tokyo was trully a life-changing experience for me.
The program taught me how to work individual and team, and how to understand people with different background and culture. By the program, I can increase my communication skill and deliver my opinion in front of huge people. This program is a great flatform for everyone who wants to increase their skill and knowledge about environmental aspect.
Besides studying Japanese, I had the opportunity to study Japanese culture. This program raised my awareness to be more active in studying Japanese and English. I also gained experience to do research independently. I also became sensitive to manage time, finances, and emotions. And to participate in various interesting activities I am also challenged to be responsible and enjoy what I have started.
Studying abroad had always been my dream, but I never imagined that it could come real soon. Through the AIMS program, I got an opportunity to study at Gyeongsang National University (GNU), South Korea. It was truly amazing! Have you ever imagined watching a Korean Drama, directly, without any subtitles laying below the screen? Having a Korean-style class, meeting new people and new culture, trying various Korean dishes, touching the snow, etc. Yes! So much cool stuff to do indeed. Those are beautiful memories that will last forever.
I was beyond lucky to spend a semester in Japan. Although that was such a shot period of time, there was so many invaluable moments to be told that you could write a book from them.
Being an exchange student at Sciences Po Reims has given me so many opportunities to develop my academic and non-academic skills. Spending one semester away from home and being the only Indonesian in town was difficult, but I have learned more than I expected. More than half of the students at Sciences Po were exchange students, hence we shared the same problem: homesickness. I am delighted to say that the lecturers, staffs, student organizations, and even the school paramedics were very helpful and attentive to my well-being needs, not only my academic needs.
Studying in University of Glasgow on my student exchange program was the one of the best experiences ever. The opportunity in being able to stay in Glasgow in the midst of the pandemic was a chance worth taking. Although living all by myself in a foreign city is actually one of my biggest fears, yet it turns out way better than I thought.
Study abroad through an exchange program? Uh, I was like more a joke at first. But, I said ‘yes’ and let’s be real.

I participated in Global Summer Programme at Singapore Management University on July 2019. I believe UGM has done a very great job in encouraging me to take an international exposure opportunity as it seeks to facilitate its students with a world-class education that enables them to possess “Locally Rooted, Globally Respected” attitude. With a specific focus on participating in Double Degree Program or Exchange, it is highly likely that the programs will be effective in harnessing the ability of its students to make UGM proud on the global stage. So challenge yourself and take international exposure opportunities offered by UGM!
