Greetings from Western Michigan University (WMU)!

Western Michigan University is a globally engaged, national research university that promotes success for learners at all levels and stands out among America’s more than 4,600 public and private degree-granting colleges and universities. WMU’s campuses encompass about 1,300 acres as well as 170 buildings and feature some of the finest facilities in the Midwest. 

We are happy to announce the Western Michigan University (WMU) Global Education Merit Scholarship for international students starting Fall 2022 and onward is now open. 

The WMU Global Education Merit Scholarship offers one-time awards of $5,000 based on merit to first-time international students (dispersed at $2,500 for Fall and Spring semesters). The scholarship supports the transition to WMU: one of the most affordable, public research institutions in the Midwestern USA.

Eligibility:

  • Complete academic admission with all application materials received by Feb. 1. No additional application is necessary.
  • Undergraduate degree-seeking student entering WMU for the first time after secondary school or transfer from another post-secondary institution in a FALL semester.
  • Non-resident international status.
  • Intending F-1 SEVIS active full-time students to study in the US.
  • 3.5 minimum cumulative GPA (on a four-point scale)

Documents Needed:

  1. Copy of passport identification page
  2. Proof of English language proficiency*
  3. Transcripts from all secondary and post-secondary schools attended or are attending, including diplomas, examination results, mark sheets and certificates* 
  4. $100 non-refundable application fee
  5. Proof of sufficient funds for the first academic year of study at WMU according to estimated cost of attendance

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Apply through this link no later than February 1, 2022
  • The FINAL decision of participants is from Western Michigan University (WMU). No nomination needed from OIA UGM. But if you need a nomination letter from Universitas Gadjah Mada, please submit your aforementioned documents through http://ugm.id/IntExposureApplication
