Greeting From Japan!

Daito Bunka University is a private university in Japan, recognised for its commitment to education that integrates the humanities, social sciences, and cultural studies. Established in 1923, the university has developed a distinctive academic identity centred on fostering broad perspectives, intellectual curiosity, and respect for diverse cultures. Located in Tokyo and Saitama, Daito Bunka University offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programmes, providing students with opportunities for academic development, international exchange, and interdisciplinary learning. Through its emphasis on cultural understanding, practical education, and global engagement, the university supports students in developing knowledge, critical thinking, professional skills, and an appreciation of diverse perspectives.

Faculty and Department Information

 

ELIGIBIITY

  1. Undergraduate students (S1) or Graduate students (S2/S3)
  2. Enrolled in Universitas Gadjah Mada during the program
  3. Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  4. Be proficient in English

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  1. Official Academic Transcript
  2. Language Proficiency Documents — English Language Proficiency and, if applicable, a copy of the results of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT, etc.)
  3. Letter of Enrollment from Faculty
  4. Letter of Nomination from Faculty (addressed to the Head of Office of International Affairs UGM)
  5. Letter of Recommendation from the Academic Advisor
  6. Curriculum Vitae
  7. Motivation Letter
  8. Colored Copy of Passport
  9. Confirmation Letter of Participation (download)
  10. Passport Size Photo / ID Photo Data (4 cm × 3 cm, JPEG format)
  11. Application Form for Daito Bunka University
  12. Questionnaire on Japanese Language Learning
  13. Expense Reimbursement Statement
  14. Financial Documents — if applicable, Financial Sponsor’s Bank Statement and/or Documents Proving Scholarship Receipt
  15. Health Certificate
  16. Application for Certificate of Eligibility for Residence Status — please submit the completed Excel file, not a PDF file
  17. [For graduate school applicants only] Research Plan (A4 paper, 1–2 pages)

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  1. Submit the aforementioned documents to UGM International Exposure Application Form: http://ugm.id/IntExposureApplication no later than 15 September 2025 for internal review.
  2. OIA staff will evaluate your application. Once you are selected as Nominated Applicants, OIA will confirm your official nomination to Daito Bunka University.
  3. The FINAL decision is from Daito Bunka University.

 

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id)
