Representatives from Hochschule München (HM) Germany visited Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) on Friday, May 16, 2025 in an effort to explore opportunities for academic collaboration between the two institutions.
The HM delegation included Veronika Wäninger, International Coordinator for Asian Universities and Corinna Fröhling, Strategic International Advisor & International Relations Coordinator. They were warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Puji Astuti, S.Si., M.Sc., Apt., as the Director of Partnerships & Global Relations in UGM, along with representatives from Faculty of Economics and Business and Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
The meeting was centered on potential collaboration initiatives between HM and UGM, particularly in subjects and courses taught in English such as economics & business and tourism management. Additionally, HM expressed interest in initiating collaboration in fields related to digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI), especially with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
Aside from the formal meeting, the HM representatives were also given a comprehensive campus tour, in which they had the opportunity to explore some of UGM’s key facilities. The campus tour provided HM with a deeper insight into the university’s academic environment and infrastructure.
To follow up on the visit, UGM and HM are eager to connect and organize further meetings between departments in both institutions to identify and elaborate further for possible implementations for the collaborative projects. Both UGM and HM hope that this visit will be the beginning of a long-term academic partnership that will open doors for more opportunities for the academic community in both institutions.
