Greetings from National University of Singapore!

The National University of Singapore (NUS) is a prestigious research university located in Singapore. It is one of the top universities in Asia and consistently ranks among the world’s best universities. NUS was established in 1905 and has a rich history of academic excellence and research contributions.

We are pleased to announce that the Department of Southeast Asian Studies at the National University of Singapore has launched a revamped MA programme and a new Graduate Diploma programme in Contemporary Southeast Asia 2024. This program is now open for Universitas Gadjah Mada students.

PROGRAM INFORMATION

Our coursework MA programme, which has been running since 1996, has always attracted a diverse body of students, including working professionals and fresh graduates. The MA’s student body is equally diverse in terms of nationality, with students coming from every part of the globe.

The MA and Graduate Diploma programmes will continue our tradition of academic rigour. NUS is ranked 19th in the world (World University Rankings 2024, Times Higher Education), and our Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is home to one of the highest concentrations of Southeast Asia specialists in the world.

The courses take an integrated, interdisciplinary approach. Students will acquire a solid understanding of Southeast Asia through a focus on the region’s natural environment, culture and arts, and economy and politics. In addition to traditional pedagogical approaches, students will also learn through immersion and practice via field trips and master classes. Our programme will provide students with the knowledge and skills to understand, analyse, and help shape the profound changes underway in the region.

Application for the August 2024 intake is currently open until 15 January 2024. Full details of the MA and Graduate Diploma courses are available on the website below.
