The DAAD has been supporting academic exchange between Germany and Indonesia for decades, providing long-term fellowships as well as short-term research grants, supporting guest professorships and helping to establish university collaborations.

Program Information

 

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

  • This program is designed to deepen your knowledge of the German language (general language, technical language) and regional studies.

 

PROGRAM BENEFIT

  • Covering the costs of the language course
  • The provision of accommodation by the course provider for the duration of the course (accommodation in a single room, e.g. student residence, shared apartment or private household)
  • A one-time pocket money payment of EUR 450.00
  • The payment of a country-specific travel allowance for selected countries. The 2026 travel allowances have not yet been determined. They will be published here as soon as they are available.
  • Health, accident and private liability insurance benefits
    Note: Pocket money and, if applicable, travel allowances are not transferred abroad. The DAAD transfers the money to the course provider, who then pays it out to the recipients in cash on-site.

 

DURATION OF FUNDING

  • The courses last at least 18 teaching days (usually 5 days per week, excluding arrival and departure days) with at least 25 teaching hours per week.
  • The courses take place from June to September.

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Students in undergraduate courses (e.g. Bachelor) and Master’s courses in all disciplines can apply.
  • Students must have completed at least two years of university study at the start of the scholarship.
  • The minimum age to start the scholarship is 18 years.
  • Applicants must generally be enrolled at a university in the program countries (except Germany) both at the time of application and for the entire duration of the scholarship.
  • Funding under the program can only be claimed once.
  • Applicants commit to a sensitive approach to the topic of sustainability.
  • Applicants must be able to follow lectures in German and participate in working groups.
  • German language skills must be proven when applying. Language skills must be proven by onSET-German, TestDaF, Goethe Institute certificate, DSD, DSH, telc German, ÖSD certificate, Abitur (only for specialist language courses).
  • The language certificate for the required minimum language level must be no more than one year old at the time of application and minimum level of B1

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • Complete CV in tabular form (in German)
  • Motivation letter (in German)
  • Proof of achievement for all university examinations from the past two years, including individual grades (with German or English translation).
    If no proof of achievement for the past two years is available at the time of application due to a study period of less than two years, proof of academic achievement for the period of study to date must be submitted.
  • For undergraduate students: school leaving certificate with grades (with German or English translation)
  • For graduates in postgraduate studies: most recent university degree certificate with final grade(s), if available (with German or English translation)
  • Language certificates (with German or English translation if applicable)
  • Other documents that you consider important for your application, if necessary with German or English translation (e.g. proof of internships, employment certificates)

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

  • Tohoku University Engineering Short Program is a 10-day international program (January 14–23, 2026) designed to inspire future engineers from around the world! Through project-based learning and multicultural teamwork, participants will explore how engineering can drive innovation and social impact.
    The program features company visits to industry leaders such as Toyota, an entrepreneurship keynote lecture by a startup founder, and opportunities to enhance presentation and problem-solving skills while experiencing Japan’s winter culture.

PROGRAM DETAILS
Students may choose between two programs:

  1. Global Frontiers in Japan – Participating students will learn about cutting-edge social issues in Japan, explore the technical and social solutions addressing them, and connect these issues with their own interests in relation to the SDGs.
  2. Frontier Engineering – Participating students will enhance their engineering expertise, experience UOsaka’s academic and industrial environments, and explore how their research connects to the SDGs and social issues.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM 

  • The Japanese Language Education Center will offer a 2-week short-term Japanese language program in February 2026. This program includes not only Japanese language study, but also project work, exchange activities with Meiji University students, exchange with degree seeking international students currently studyling at Meiji University and Japanese cultural experiences, which will satisfy your learning needs. ​
  • Date: February 2 (Mon) – February 13 (Fri), 2026 [2 weeks]
  • Program fee :  90,000 (JPY)
     Included       : Tuition, textbooks, bus tour, field trip fees.
     Not included : Accommodation, travel expenses, Meals and other daily expenses.

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Undergraduate or graduate-level students of overseas universities
    ※
    Priority is given to students from Meiji University’s partner institutions.
    ※Students who have participated in the past program are not eligible to apply.
    ※Students must be enrolled at the university from the time of application until the end of the program.

 

SCHOLARSHIP

  • The Short-term Japanese Language Program is covered by the JASSO (Japan Student Services Organization) Overseas Study Support Program (Inbound). Students from Meiji University’s partner institutions who meet the requirements set by JASSO may receive a scholarship (80,000 yen) upon completion of the program.
  • Scholarship information will be emailed to eligible students at the time of the online test information.Official transcripts (with seal (signature) from the university, in Japanese or English only) are required to apply for the scholarship. Please prepare ahead of time if you wish to apply for the said scholarship.
    *Note : Scholarship screening will be conducted. Not all applicants will be selected for the scholarship.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

  • Sophia University offers short-term January and Summer Sessions for students interested in Japan and East Asia. These programs provide a unique chance to explore Japanese language, culture, and society while experiencing Tokyo’s dynamic urban life. Since 1961, the Summer Session has welcomed over 11,000 students worldwide, many of whom have pursued careers related to Japan. The January Session, launched in 2013, also attracts students with courses on contemporary issues and cultural insights.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Be a current student or graduate of a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree program outside of Japan. Students from high schools or community colleges that do not have the authority to confer degrees equivalent to undergraduate level degrees in Japan are not eligible for this program.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

  • The program includes intensive Japanese language for absolute beginners and culture classes. Participants will have the chance to learn with Toyo University Japanese students in interactive classes. Plus, we will provide opportunities for field trips to experience Japanese culture and society firsthand.
  • Date of program: 5-17 January 2025
  • Program Fees: 265,200 JPY/ 1,79o USD

 

PROGRAM REMARKS 

  • The Program fee includes tuitions, activity fees, local transportation during the program and accommodation with breakfast. Air ticket, food(lunch and dinner) and local transportation from/to airport (Tokyo) are not included.
  • The target level of Japanese language classes is zero beginners.
  • Participants should arrange an round trip ticket to/from Tokyo and come to the accommodation by themselves.
  • Participants are required to get oversea travel insurance by themselves.
  • Online orientation session will be held in mid December.
  • As for the cancelation policy, please refer to Toyo’s website.

Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, often simply referred to as Humboldt University, is one of Germany’s oldest and most prestigious universities. Founded in 1810 by the philosopher Wilhelm von Humboldt and his brother, Alexander von Humboldt, a natural scientist and explorer, it is located in the heart of Berlin.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM 

  • Courses are all thematically related to the city of Berlin offering lectures and discussions in a variety of different subjects. In addition to seminars and lectures, students will be able to deepen and apply their knowledge on excursions and guided tours throughout Berlin. Courses are open to students of all academic disciplines.
  • HUWISU Winter Program is taking place from 5 January to 23 January 2026. Kindly refer to the website 
  • Summer School 2026 will take place from 15 June to 10 July (Session 1) and from 13 July to 07 August (Session 2). Kindly refer to the website

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Be at least 18 years old
  •  Be enrolled as a student or a doctoral candidate in some university. You can find the level requirement on the respective course pages. Participation by graduates is also possible in exceptional cases.
  •  Have a relevant educational background that qualifies you to take part in the course. Details can be found on the respective course page. A letter of motivation is required for the English-language subject courses.
  •  Provide proof of sufficient English language skills (not necessary if English is your native language or the language of instruction at your home university). The following tests are recognized:
    •  TOEFL IBT at least 90 – minimum 20 in each section
    •  TOEFL paper-based test – at least 580 – minimum 50 in each section
    •  IELTS 6.5 but at least 6.0 in each section
    •  TOEIC minimum 685 in all areas
    •  CEFR at least B2
    •  CET-4 (China) 550
    •  CET-6 (China) 490
    •  Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English – grade C
    •  Cambridge Advanced Certificate – grade B\
