Chonbuk National University (CBNU; 전북대학교; 全北大學校; Jeonbuk Daehakgyo) is located in the historical city of Jeonju, Republic of Korea. As the flagship national university for the Jeollabuk-do Province, it was founded in 1947 by the provincial fund within the framework of the Korean national university system, following the liberation of the country.

CBNU has grown to 17 colleges (including Faculty of Public Policy and Jimmy Carter School of International Studies) and 14 graduate schools (one general, nine specialized and four professional schools).

Founded in 1950 as the Tamkang Junior College of English by Mr. Chang Ching-sheng and his son Dr. Clement C. P. Chang, TKU was Taiwan’s first private college. It became the Tamkang College of Arts and Sciences in 1958, before being elevated to Tamkang University in 1980. From its humble beginnings as one of the first schools of higher education in Taiwan, TKU now has four campuses: the Tamsui Campus, the Taipei Campus, the Lanyang Campus, and the Cyber Campus; comprised of eight colleges, with a total of over 25,000 students, more than 2,000 faculty and staff members, and more than 260,000 alumni.

This grant is for Indonesian scholars who hold a doctoral or equivalent degree and intend to carry out research for three to six months in the US.

Interested scholars must be permanent lecturers of Universitas Gadjah Mada and hold a Nomor Induk Dosen Nasional, or NIDN.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

The applicants should:

• Be Indonesian citizens and not permanent residents of the US, or be currently living in the US
• Possess leadership qualities and show experience in community service
• Have preparation in, and a demonstrated commitment to their chosen field of study
• Be proficient in English
• Have an outstanding academic record
• Demonstrate that they can realistically conduct research in the US

Applicant will be ineligible if he or she is an employee, close family member of an employee, or dependent of an employee of AMINEF, the US Embassy, or the US Department of State.

This grant is for three years’ study at a US university to pursue a doctoral degree in any field of study except medical sciences. It is open to applicants who serve as permanent faculty members of state or private universities in Indonesia. In certain cases, grantees can request an exceptional fourth year if a substantial argument for it can be made.

The AC21 Special Project Fund (SPF) was created in order to promote the development of research and educational exchange between AC21 members by providing “seed funding” for a variety of collaborative research projects and activities. Although research collaboration between AC21 members is important, this fund is not intended to support particular or individual research projects. It is awarded to projects that include as many participants as possible. For example, a symposium jointly held by three or more institutions, featuring speakers from these institutions, and open to all AC21 members, as well as to the general public, will serve our goal of internationalization and cooperation between members more effectively compared to simple research projects conducted by one or two individuals per institution.

The International Graduate Program for Advanced Science (IGPAS) was initiated in October 2004 as one of the first International Priority Graduate Programs supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, and Technology (MEXT). The lecture courses are taught in English, and the students are not required to learn Japanese language, although they are encouraged to learn it for their daily life. Scholarship opportunities are available for those who meet our qualifications and academic standards. From its establishment in 2004 to September 2017, IGPAS has conferred 116 Master of Science degrees and 76 Doctor of Science degrees to students from 19 countries and regions.

National Central University (NCU) was re-established in Taiwan in 1962 as part of the country´s response to the International Geophysical Year. The school was initially located in Miaoli, but was relocated to Jhongli in 1968, and gradually developed into a comprehensive university. NCU has now become Taiwan´s leading school in the fields of geophysics and space science, and was selected as one of the major research-oriented universities in 2001. It is a first-rate university with solid international qualifications.
