Warm greetings from Hokkaido University, Japan!

Founded in 1876 as Sapporo Agricultural College, Hokkaido University is one of the oldest, largest, and most prestigious universities in Japan. The University also has one of Japan’s most beautiful campuses. Green spaces, forests, and creeks are spread throughout its campuses located in the cities of Sapporo and Hakodate, which experience distinct seasonal changes throughout the year. The university offers diverse degree programs for international students and places great emphasis on research in the sciences and humanities. It also houses cutting-edge research facilities, a university hospital, and a wide variety of field research centers.

We are very glad to inform you that the application for Hokkaido Summer Institute 2020 is now open for Universitas Gadjah Mada students.

Hokkaido Summer Institute (HSI) was established in 2016 and provides lectures with the university’s faculty members during the summer. Last summer, more than 1,800 students joined the HSI to study a wide range of disciplines from literature to engineering. The university continues to expand the program, and for HSI 2020 there will be over 150 courses (around 120 graduate courses and around 30 undergraduate courses) from June 1st to October 30th, 2020. Each course is worth 1 or 2 academic credits. Most of the courses run for one or two weeks. Students can tailor their own summer programs by combining courses according to their majors and interests.

Note:
The tuition fee will be waived for students who enrolled in the program as exchange students from HU’s partner institutions with which HU has concluded a memorandum of understanding on mutual tuition waivers. All students from the partner institutions can take this tuition waiver and the number of HSI students is not included in the exchange quota.
