The DAAD has been supporting academic exchange between Germany and Indonesia for decades, providing long-term fellowships as well as short-term research grants, supporting guest professorships and helping to establish university collaborations.

We are pleased to inform you that the application for DAAD Hochschulsommerkurs 2026 is now open.

Program Information

 

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

  • This program is designed to deepen your knowledge of the German language (general language, technical language) and regional studies.

 

PROGRAM BENEFIT

  • Covering the costs of the language course
  • The provision of accommodation by the course provider for the duration of the course (accommodation in a single room, e.g. student residence, shared apartment or private household)
  • A one-time pocket money payment of EUR 450.00
  • The payment of a country-specific travel allowance for selected countries. The 2026 travel allowances have not yet been determined. They will be published here as soon as they are available.
  • Health, accident and private liability insurance benefits
    Note: Pocket money and, if applicable, travel allowances are not transferred abroad. The DAAD transfers the money to the course provider, who then pays it out to the recipients in cash on-site.

 

DURATION OF FUNDING

  • The courses last at least 18 teaching days (usually 5 days per week, excluding arrival and departure days) with at least 25 teaching hours per week.
  • The courses take place from June to September.

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Students in undergraduate courses (e.g. Bachelor) and Master’s courses in all disciplines can apply.
  • Students must have completed at least two years of university study at the start of the scholarship.
  • The minimum age to start the scholarship is 18 years.
  • Applicants must generally be enrolled at a university in the program countries (except Germany) both at the time of application and for the entire duration of the scholarship.
  • Funding under the program can only be claimed once.
  • Applicants commit to a sensitive approach to the topic of sustainability.
  • Applicants must be able to follow lectures in German and participate in working groups.
  • German language skills must be proven when applying. Language skills must be proven by onSET-German, TestDaF, Goethe Institute certificate, DSD, DSH, telc German, ÖSD certificate, Abitur (only for specialist language courses).
  • The language certificate for the required minimum language level must be no more than one year old at the time of application and minimum level of B1

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • Complete CV in tabular form (in German)
  • Motivation letter (in German)
  • Proof of achievement for all university examinations from the past two years, including individual grades (with German or English translation).
    If no proof of achievement for the past two years is available at the time of application due to a study period of less than two years, proof of academic achievement for the period of study to date must be submitted.
  • For undergraduate students: school leaving certificate with grades (with German or English translation)
  • For graduates in postgraduate studies: most recent university degree certificate with final grade(s), if available (with German or English translation)
  • Language certificates (with German or English translation if applicable)
  • Other documents that you consider important for your application, if necessary with German or English translation (e.g. proof of internships, employment certificates)

 

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  1. Apply directly to DAAD. Kindly refer to the Application Website.
  2. The deadline is 30 October 2025.
  3. The FINAL decision is from DAAD

 

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
  • In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id)
