Tohoku University is a prestigious research university located in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. It is one of the country’s most prominent and comprehensive universities, known for its excellence in education and research across various fields.
We are pleased to inform you that the application for Tohoku University Engineering Short Program 2026 is now open.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
- Tohoku University Engineering Short Program is a 10-day international program (January 14–23, 2026) designed to inspire future engineers from around the world! Through project-based learning and multicultural teamwork, participants will explore how engineering can drive innovation and social impact.
The program features company visits to industry leaders such as Toyota, an entrepreneurship keynote lecture by a startup founder, and opportunities to enhance presentation and problem-solving skills while experiencing Japan’s winter culture. - Program fees: 35,000 JPY ( The fee covers tuition, cultural & social activities, field trips)
ELIGIBILITY
- Undergraduate students (S1) or Graduate students (S2/S3)
- Enrolled in Universitas Gadjah Mada during the program
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Be proficient in English

- Letter of Nomination from Faculty (addressed to the Head of Office of International Affairs UGM)
- Letter of Recommendation from the Academic Advisor
- Curriculum Vitae (with a portrait photo)
- Motivation Letter
- Colored Copy of Passport
- Confirmation Letter of Participation (download)
- Passport Size Photo
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
- Submit the aforementioned documents to UGM International Exposure Application Form: http://ugm.id/IntExposureApplication no later than 03 November 2025 for internal review.
- OIA staff will evaluate your application. Once you are selected as Nominated Applicants, OIA will confirm your official nomination to Tohoku University and you may proceed to the online application no later than 10 November 2025.
- The FINAL decision is from Tohoku University.
IMPORTANT NOTES
- In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
- In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id)
