The College of Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE College) of Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is organising a two-week summer programme from 11 to 20 July 2017 for international university students. All international university students are eligible to apply for the programme but must possess a good command of English language as the programme will be conducted in English.

You are required to submit a letter from your university verifying your student status or send us a scanned copy of your student card.
You will receive an email acknowledgement within 2 working days from your registration. If you do not receive any acknowledgement from us, please send an email to cce@ntu.edu.sg.
To enjoy the early bird registration fee, your payment must reach us by 20 April 2017. The standard registration payment deadline is 25 May 2017. If you wish to register after the deadline, please send an email to cce@ntu.edu.sg to check if vacancy is still available.
The programme may be cancelled if there are insufficient participants and full refund will be made.

[South Korea] Kyung Hee University – Global Collaborative Summer Program 2017

The Global Collaborative Summer Program was established through an institutional agreement between Kyung Hee University and the University of Pennsylvania and was later supported by other prestigious universities as well as international organizations such as the United Nations. Under the theme “Humanity, Civilization, and Global Governance,” the Global Collaborative Summer Program seeks to promote a better understanding of the East Asian region and the world through the lens of “world peace” and the “global common good.” It also aims to provide a new, internationally-focused paradigm of higher education by integrating education, research, and global service.

Kyung Hee University, together with the Global Collaborative Summer Program, is proud to launch Global Forum for Humanities and Social Studies, a discussion on the future of humanity, a future in which we all take part. The Forum is open to all who are interested in the topic of humanity and civilization. In the future, it will be necessary to find harmony between diversity and universality. The globalized world in which we live already requires us to find harmony between tolerance and peace, cultural diversity and sustainability. Through the Global Collaborative Summer Program and Global Forum for Humanities and Social Studies, we wish to explore the possibilities of a better, more sustainable future.

[Japan] Showa Women Unversity – SWU Summer International Program (SSIP) 2017

This 3 week summer program is designed for students who are interested in Japan, but have not yet studied Japanese. Students will study about Japanese culture, history and society through a variety of lectures conducted in English and in field trips to historic sites and museums. Students will also experience collaborative research, discussions and presentations with SWU students in  Cross-Cultural Workshops.

[Japan] Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology – Short Term Exchange Program in Science and Engineering 2017

Short-term Exchange Program in Science and Engineering (STEP) is a one-year study program hosted by Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. Starting in October every year running until September following year, the STEP program accepting international applications from TUAT’s overseas sister’s universities. Every year, about 20 international students from Europe, North America, South America, Africa and Asian countries are participating in this program. Successful applicants are expected to experience research activities in laboratories, Japanese language and cultural studies, one’s major related course works and general studies in Science and Engineering.

The purpose of STEP program is to provide opportunities for international students to pursue research activities on latest industries and technologies in Japan; and expecting them to contribute in the development works through collaborative research activities. The program also aims to promote the globalization of TUAT by fostering the relationship between Japanese students and international students; which gives the better understanding opportunity of Japan to the global community.

JYPE is an exchange program that provides an opportunity for overseas undergraduate students to take natural science, engineering, and agricultural courses at Tohoku University, without having to attain the Japanese language proficiency that would be necessary to take the same courses in Japanese. All lectures are given in English and course credits will be given as per the standards of the equivalent courses offered in Japanese. Only students from partner universities that have university or department level agreements are able to join this program. This program starts in October (Fall semester). The duration is basically 1 year.

Students will also take basic education courses taught in English at Tohoku University in order to increase their abilities and expand their knowledge into new scientific fields. This program allows both undergraduate and graduate students international to take classes and perform research alongside Japanese students. DEEP students are enrolled in one of the natural science courses (science, medicine, dentistry, pharmaceutical sciences, engineering, agricultural science, information sciences, life sciences, environmental studies and biomedical engineering). Only students from partner universities that have university level agreements are able to join this program. Undergraduates will be able to experience the wide range of fields and highly specialized courses Tohoku University has to offer through taking General Education and specialized subjects. Undergraduate students are required to have a high proficiency of Japanese language, sufficient to understand classes taught in Japanese. JLPT (http://www.jlpt.jp/) N1 or equivalent is required. Graduate students will participate in world-class research through their departments’ activities in addition to attending lectures. If the student’s academic advisor agrees to supervise in English, the student will not be required to show proficiency in Japanese. DEEp-Bridge is an exchange program for both undergraduate and graduate humanities students who have a JLPT rating of N3 or higher. Participants can  Japanese Placement Test, can take General Education or specialized classes together with Japanese students. Only students from partner universities with either a university-level or department-level agreement is able to join this program. This program starts in October (Fall semester) and April (Spring semester). The duration is 1 semester or 1 year (October enrolment only).
Undergraduate students are required to submit a scoresheet of the Japanese Placement Test (SPOT). Higher than or equal to 65 is required. The online test is free of charge. (Reference: The Japanese Placement Test http://ttbj.jp/mt/p2_e.html )
Graduate students are not required to show proficiency in Japanese if the student’s academic advisor agrees to supervise in English.

1. Statement of purpose/Study plan (one A4 size page)
2. Official Academic Transcript
3. Letter of recommendation by applicant’s advising professor
4. Certificate of Enrollment at applicant’s home university
5. Photocopy of Passport (identification page with applicant’s photo and name) *Applicants without a passport can submit it after the application period. In this case, please upload a document to this effect.
6. Optional: Application Form for JASSO scholarship (after you selected as nomination student)
7. A copy of a certificate of language proficiency
JYPE, COLABS, IPLA: English
DEEp-Bridge: Japanese (SPOT)
DEEP (undergraduate): Japanese
DEEP (graduate) : English and/or Japanese)
JYPE, IPLA, and COLABS require high English proficiency (e.g. TOEFT iBT 79 or equivalent). All applicants are strongly recommended to submit the official  score sheet of internationally recognised English tests (e.g. TOEFL® Test, IELTS, Cambridge, CET). Special Auditing Students in DEEP are required to have Japanese language proficiency (JLPT N1 Level).

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

1) Submit the aforementioned documents to Office of International Affairs, UGM (Bulaksumur F-13) for internal review.
2) OIA staffs will evaluate your application.
3) Once you are selected as Nominated Student, you may continue to apply online through Tohoku University website as for host university selection.
4) FINAL decision from Tohoku University.
