The Hitachi Global Foundation strives to realize its mission by providing support to promising faculty members at the universities in Southeast Asia through the Hitachi Scholarship. The goals of the program are to promote:
1. Development of human resources of the universities in Southeast Asia contributing to improvement of education, enhancement of collaboration and cooperation among the universities in Southeast Asia and Japan.
2. Development of a collaborative network among university faculty members in Southeast Asia and Japan.
3. Enhancement of cultural understanding and closer relationships among Southeast Asian and Japan.

The Hitachi Scholarship consists of the following two programs:
The Hitachi Scholarship Doctoral Program
This program is offered to university faculty members who would like to take a Doctoral Course in science and technology at a Japanese graduate school. The program has been devised to encourage scholars to return to their universities to continue their educational and research pursuits after completion of their studies in Japan. Under the program, a total of 182 faculty members has been invited since 1985.

The Hitachi Scholarship Research Fellowship
This program has been devised to encourage university faculty members who would like to conduct short-term post-doctoral research in science and technology. The program has been devised to allow fellows to enhance their professional backgrounds and to promote academic collaboration through development of relations with Japanese universities and institutions. Under the program, a total of 192 faculty members has been invited since 1986.

Ge4 is an international independent non-profit network of universities established in 1996 for the purpose of connecting global industry and academic institutions. We have been offering competent service and rich experience to higher education institutions and industry by implementing academic mobility of engineers and managers worldwide ever since. The main focus of our activities is student exchanges at all levels, from BSc to PhD, as well as researcher and staff exchanges.
Since our foundation, over 1300 students have taken part in the Ge4 network exchange programs worldwide. We are trying to make a contribution to a mutual understanding between diverse cultures and to stimulate educational and personal development of young academics in an open and friendly environment. We are strongly convinced that global education and academic exchanges, as its integral part, are an important way to create a safer world, cultural diversity and sustainable economy.

The Graduate School of Science and Engineering’s Master Degree Program offers nine disciplines including four under Engineering Science Major (Mathematics, Pure and Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering) three under Environmental and Urban Engineering Major (Architecture, Civil, Environmental and Applied System Engineering, Chemical, Energy and Environmental Engineering) and two under Chemistry, Materials and Bio-engineering Major (Chemistry and Materials Engineering, Life Science and Biotechnology) in order to endow graduates with specialized knowledge and technological skills. In addition, the Graduate School’s Ph.D. Degree Programs consist of same nine disciplines under Integrated Science and Engineering Major. the programs is designed to endow graduates with exceptional research skills as well as broad knowledge and technological skills that enable them to integrate various research domains.

The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA)’s Graduate Study Program was initiated in School Year 1968/1969. Over four decades, the scope of the Graduate Study Program has expanded to include institutional development, networking, and services to enhance graduate education in the region. SEARCA has also been providing services for administration of scholarship funds under the sponsorship of institutions other than SEAMEO.
For more than four decades SEARCA has awarded more than 1,500 scholarships to nationals of SEAMEO regular member countries, namely: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam to pursue advanced studies leading to master’s and doctoral degrees in agriculture, forestry, and related sciences.
For Academic Year 2014-2015, SEARCA has now granted a total of 58 new scholarships, which brings us to a total of 128 current/ongoing scholars, as of February 2015.
