1. 2025-26 KF Fellowship for Postdoctoral Research

  • The KF Fellowship for Postdoctoral Research (PF) is designed to support the full-time research of emerging scholars who have recently obtained a Ph.D. in a Korea-related research topic at a university or research institution located outside of Korea.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Scholars who have recently obtained or will soon hold a Ph.D. in the humanities, social sciences, arts & cultural studies, media & communications, contemporary Korean studies, or any other relevant field with a Korea-related research topic 
  • Have obtained a Ph.D. within the past five years from the start date of the fellowship period, OR
  • Be current Ph.D. candidates scheduled to receive their degree before the start of the fellowship period.
  • Have not been awarded a university position equivalent to or exceeding that of a full-time lecturer, or a senior researcher position at a research institution.  
  • Hold citizenship or permanent residency status in a country outside of Korea.*  

Note: Applicants who are Korean citizens must have already obtained permanent residency status in a country outside of Korea as of July 2025.

  • The KF Scholarship for Graduate Studies (GS) is designed to provide scholarship support to graduate students majoring in a Korea-related field or focusing on a Korea- related research topic at a university located outside of Korea.

  • M.A. or Ph.D. students in the humanities, social sciences, arts & cultural studies, media & communications, contemporary Korean affairs, or any other relevant field with a Korea-related research topic

ABOUT THE COURSE

  • This course has been designed to develop talented researchers with the expertise and skills to improve food self-sufficiency, protect the environment, and ensure food safety while fostering professional communication skills in Japanese and English, and business skills to work with Japanese organizatons.
  • After completion of all the requirements for this two-year program, candidates will be awarded a master’s degree from Kagawa University.
    Some scholarships for international students, including Japanese Government scholarships, are available. *Selection will be made to receive scholarship.

 

ELIGIBILITY

  1. Applicants must have graduated from a university faculty or department in an
    agricultural science-related field (such as agriculture, food science, bioscience, chemistry, plant
    science, bioenvironmental science, agricultural economics, etc.) or be expected to graduate from
    a university faculty or department in the same field by September 2026.
  2. Must have completed 16 years of formal education.
  3. Must be recommended by the dean of their faculty.
  4. Submit a certificate of Japanese Language Proficiency corresponding to JLPT N4 level or
    higher.
  5. Applicants must be under 35 years old as of April 1, 2026 (Born on or after April 2, 1991).
  6. Minimum GPA of 2.30 on 4.00 scale, or above.
  7. Applicants must be able to communicate well in English.

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  1. Application form
  2. Field of study and research plan
  3. An abstract of the applicant’s graduation thesis
  4. Graduation Diploma issued by the university authority or an official form showing that the candidate is expected to graduate (Certified copy)
  5. Certificate of employment (if applicable)
  6. Academic record (Transcript) issued by the university
  7. Certificate of citizenship issued by relevant authorities
  8. Certificate of Japanese Language JLPT Level N4 or higher, or a certificate for Japanese language studies and evidence of proficiency
  9. Certificate of English Language CEFR Level B1 or higher, or a certificate for English language studies and evidence of proficiency
  10. Three 4.5×3.5cm photographs, hatless, showing the full face and upper torso, taken within 6 months of application
  11. Pledge
  12. A dean’s letter of recommendation
  13. Entrance examination fee: 30,000 yen (one-time fee)

  2. The deadline is 07 November 2025.
  3. The FINAL decision is from Kagawa University.

 

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
  • In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id)

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
The graduate school has three faculty members specializing in Japanese language education.
Students can conduct research not only in Japanese language education, but also in related fields such as:

  • Multilingual education
  • Sociolinguistics
  • Pragmatics
  • Japanese literature
  • Intercultural communication

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Already hold a master’s degree.
  • Are currently involved in Japanese language education at a higher education institution in Southeast Asia (either full-time or part-time).
