Utsunomiya University, nestled in the city of Utsunomiya in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan, boasts a rich academic heritage dating back to its establishment in 1949 as a municipal university, later attaining national status in 1979.

We are pleased to inform you that the application for the Utsunomiya University Student Exchange Program Spring 2026 is now open for Universitas Gadjah Mada students.

  2. Enrolled in Universitas Gadjah Mada during the program
  3. Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  1. Submit the aforementioned documents to UGM International Exposure Application Form: http://ugm.id/IntExposureApplication no later than 05 October 2025 for internal review.
  2. OIA staff will evaluate your application. Once you are selected as Nominated Applicants, OIA will confirm your official nomination to Utsunomiya University and you may proceed to the online application no later than 17 October 2025.
  3. The FINAL decision is from Utsunomiya University.

 

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
  • In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id)

[Taiwan] NTHU-UHM Summer Intensive Program 2025

National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) is a prestigious research university located in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Its history dates back to 1911 during the late Qing Dynasty, when the Qing government established Tsing Hua Academy (Qinghua School) as part of its efforts to modernize China’s education system. Today, National Tsing Hua University remains committed to its founding principles of academic excellence, innovation, and social responsibility.

 

National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) and the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (UHM) have collaborated to offer the NTHU-UHM Summer Intensive Program. Established in 2022, this program provides students with a unique opportunity to enhance their language proficiency while immersing themselves in Taiwan’s vibrant cultural and historical heritage. Taking place in Hsinchu over six weeks, the program integrates experiential learning with a project-based language learning (PBLL) approach. Participants will explore Taiwan’s history, culture, politics, and technological advancements, culminating in a meaningful PBLL project that enriches their understanding and skills.

PROGRAM INFORMATION

  • Location: Hsinchu (6 weeks)
  • Program Dates: Monday, 9 June 2025 – 18 July 2025
  • Academic credits: 6-8 credits, (equivalent to two semesters  of Chinese)
  • Host Institution: National Tsing Hua University
  • Program Fee: $5,600 USD (subject to change)
    • Includes tuition, accommodation, cultural activities, excursions
    • DOES NOT INCLUDE airfare, meals, and personal expenses
    • Optional: Additional UHM credit fee: $284USD

The university’s overall enrollment of 23,000 students includes approximately 2,000 international students from around 100 countries and regions throughout the world. Sharing your ideas and aspirations with this diverse greatly enrich your academic progress and your student life.

COVID-19

In Japan, over 80 percent of the population has been vaccinated for the 1st & 2nd shots, and about 50% of the population has been vaccinated for the 3rd shot, and the number of new corona cases has been decreasing.

As in the previous semesters, we plan to offer in-person classes while taking all possible measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the Spring semester 2023.
