The University of Tsukuba was established in October 1973, due to the relocation of its antecedent, the Tokyo University of Education, to the Tsukuba area. As the new concept comprehensive university in Japan to be established under a country-wide university reform plan, the University has featured “Openness” with “New Systems for Education and Research” under a “New University Administration.” The University of Tsukuba aims to establish a free exchange and close relationships in both basic and applied sciences with educational and research organizations and academic communities in Japan and overseas.

Eligibility
- 3rd to 6th-semester undergraduate students (S1) & 3rd to 4th-semester graduate students (S2/S3)
- Enrolled in Universitas Gadjah Mada during the program
- Be proficient in English. Non-native English speakers must have a score of at least TOEFL ITP 550, TOEFL iBT 79 or IELTS 6.5.

- Letter of Nomination from Faculty (addressed to the Head of Office of International Affairs UGM)

- Motivation Letter
- Passport-size photo (4 pieces, 3 x 4 cm, white background color, taken within the past three months)

Application Procedure
- Submit the aforementioned documents to UGM International Exposure Application Form: http://ugm.id/IntExposureApplication and send the hard file documents to OIA UGM Bulaksumur F13 no later than March 20th, 2020 for internal review
- OIA staff will evaluate your application. Once you are selected as Nominated Applicants, OIA will confirm your official nomination to Tsukuba University
- The FINAL decision from Tsukuba University
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
- In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id).
- Application of outgoing mobility for fall/odd semester in AY 2021/2022 will be processed but the implementation/execution will carefully consider the latest development of COVID-19 and government’s regulation.
- Possibility of online teaching, depending on the COVID-19 situation.
- The Japanese government has already announced the idea of gradual deregulation of the policy, “phased measures for resuming cross-border travel”; however, we would like to advise your students to consider possible expenses pertaining to this policy such as COVID-19 testing before coming to Japan and accommodation for self-quarantine. (Those restrictions will be gradually removed, so actual expenses must be depending on effective policy at the time of their arrival.)
