The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) invites academics, researchers, and teacher trainers to apply for the inaugural 1st Asia-Europe Education Next Fellowship (ASEFNextEd). Under the theme “Re-thinking Intelligence: The Future of Teacher Education,” this leadership initiative fosters cross-regional dialogue to shape the future of K-12 teacher training in an era of AI and digitalization.

Program Overview
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS & PHASES
This fellowship involves three mandatory phases to co-create policy-relevant whitepapers:
- Peer-to-Peer Learning & Dialogue (Online): 13 May – 24 June 2026
- Independent White-Paper Co-Creation (Online): 1 July – 17 November 2026
- Onsite Conference (Macau, China): 23 – 27 November 2026
ELIGIBILITY & FEES
- Target Audience: Academics and researchers at HEIs directly engaged in K-12 teacher education (e.g., educational leadership, curriculum development, pedagogical research).
- Citizenship: Must hold citizenship and residency in an eligible ASEF partner country (Indonesia is eligible).
- Funding: Participation in the fellowship is Free. (Please consult the official concept note regarding specific travel grants/subsidies for the Macau conference phase).
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Due to the imminent start date, applicants must apply directly to ASEF.
- Review the official concept note and prepare your application materials immediately.
- Submit your application via the official ASEF portal.
- The FINAL decision is from the Asia-Europe Foundation.

IMPORTANT NOTES
- In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
- In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id)
