PROGRAM INFORMATION
UTokyo accepts exchange students from partner universities with a Memorandum of Understanding concerning student exchange. USTEP offers Type U (for undergraduate students) and Type G (for graduate students) programs.
ELIGIBILITY
(For Undergraduate Student)
- Students must meet all the eligibility indicated on the Type U website.
- English Proficiency: TOEFL iBT 90, IELTS 6.5, Cambridge “C1 Advanced”, or DET 120. and/or – Japanese: JLPT N1
- Applicants who attend a university or graduated from a high school where the medium of instruction was in the respective language are exempt from the requirement.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
- Submit the aforementioned documents to UGM International Exposure Application Form: http://ugm.id/IntExposureApplication no later than 20 August 2026 for internal review.
- OIA staff will evaluate your application. Once you are selected as Nominated Applicants, OIA will confirm your official nomination to University of Tokyo and you may proceed to the online application.
- The FINAL decision is from University of Tokyo.
IMPORTANT NOTES
- In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
- In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id)
