Tokai University is a private university located in Tokyo, Japan. It is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the country. The university was founded in 1885 as Igirisu Horitsu Gakko (English Law School) by a group of legal scholars, and it has since evolved into a comprehensive university offering a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs in various fields.
We are pleased to inform you that the application for Tokai University MEXT Scholarship 2026 for Universitas Gadjah Mada students.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
- Tokai University has been selected by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan (MEXT) for the“Special Program for Priority Allocation of Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Students for FY2023”, which is being implemented from 2024 through 2026.
- Under this program, Tokai University will preferentially accept outstanding students from Southeast Asian countries into its Master Program.
Building upon the department’s strong foundation in mechanical engineering, control engineering, and machine learning, the program offers advanced education and research opportunities in robot control, kinematics, and design development. Through research-based learning, it aims to cultivate highly skilled engineers capable of engaging in advanced technology development. - Successful applicants who are accepted as MEXT Scholarship students will be exempted from application fees, admission fees, and tuition.
ELIGIBILITY
- Nationality: Applicants must have the nationality of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan.
- Age: Those who were born on or after April 2, 1991 in principle.
- Academic background Applicants must satisfy the conditions for admission to either a master’s or doctoral course at a Japanese graduate school.
- Majors: Applicants should apply for the field of study they majored in at university or its related field.
- Language proficiency: Those who have proficiency in either Japanese or English.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
- Application Form for the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship (temporary *Form*2026’s version will be posted in Early-November)
- Field of Study and Research Plan specified by Japanese Government (MEXT) (download)
- Two photos (Separately from the one mentioned in ① above)
- Latest academic transcript (master copy)
- A certificate of excellent academic performance from the last university attended
- (Expected) graduate certificate to satisfy application qualifications (master copy)
- Recommendation letter from the president/dean of the last university/graduate school attended
- English Language Proficiency
- Japanese Language Proficiency (if applicable)
- Photocopy of passport
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
- Apply directly to Lund University. Kindly refer to Admissions Guideline.
- The deadline is 19 December 2025.
- The FINAL decision is from Lund University.
IMPORTANT NOTES
- In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
- In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id)
