(South Korea) Busan University of Foreign Studies (BUFS) Exchange Program Spring 2022

Busan University of Foreign Studies was founded in 1981 by the late Chung Tae-sung. His philosophy for education was that young intellectual minds must become leaders internationally. Busan University of Foreign Studies was founded as a college for studying foreign languages in April 1982 with its first students studying English, French, Japanese, Chinese, German, Indonesian, Malay, and Thai. Through the 1980s, the college expanded its programs and finally became a university in 1991. As of 2009, Busan University of Foreign Studies has academic exchange program agreements with 94 universities in 24 countries.

We are pleased to inform you that Busan University of Foreign Studies (BUFS) Student Exchange Program for Spring 2022 is now open for Universitas Gadjah Mada students.

Eligibility:

  1. 3rd to 6th-semester undergraduate students (S1) 
  2. Enrolled in Universitas Gadjah Mada during the program
  3. Be proficient in English or Korean. Non-native speaker must have score at least TOEFL ITP 550, TOEFL iBT 79, or IELTS 6.5
  4. Achieved a minimum of academic GPA 60% or above

Required Documents:

  1. BUFS Application Form
  2. Nomination/Recommendation Letter from an academic supervisor
  3. Letter of Enrollment from Faculty
  4. Letter of Nomination from Faculty (addressed to the Head of Office of International Affairs UGM)
  5. Official Transcript of Academic Records
  6.  A copy of verification of enrollment(in English)
  7.  A color copy of the photo page of your passport (the actual size)
  8.  A copy of Tuberculosis Test result. Students can also choose to take a TB test upon arrival in Korea. TB test results should be valid for the duration of student’s study in Korea. In the event, it falls short, he/she is required to take a TB test in Korea.

 Application Procedure

  1. Submit the aforementioned documents to UGM International Exposure Application Form: http://ugm.id/IntExposureApplication no later than no later than 25 October 2021 for internal review. No need to send the original copy.
  2. OIA staff will evaluate your application. Once you are selected as Nominated Applicants, OIA will confirm your official nomination to Busan University of Foreign Studies (BUFS) and you may proceed to the online application.
  3. The FINAL decision from Busan University of Foreign Studies (BUFS)

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • The implementation/execution of this program will be carefully reconsidered depends on the latest development of COVID-19 and the government’s regulation
  • In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
  • In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id)
