[Malaysia] Universiti Malaya – Student Exchange Program for Fall Semester 2021

University Malaya (UM) is Malaysia’s oldest university and situated on a 900-acre campus in the southwest of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. The varsity is proud to claim the title of the country’s premier university and the origins of the university can be traced back to 1905 with the founding of King Edward VII College of Medicine and its subsequent merger in 1949 with Raffles College (founded 1929) in Singapore to form the national university of the Federation of Malaya under the name of Universiti Malaya. In 1954, the government put forward a proposal that the Universiti Malaya should rightly have two branches, one in Singapore and another in Kuala Lumpur. Through an act of parliament in 1961, the Universiti Malaya as we know it today in Kuala Lumpur was established on 1 January 1962 as the first university in this country.

We are pleased to inform you that the application for Universiti Malaya Student Exchange Program for Fall Semester 2021 is now open for Universitas Gadjah Mada students.

 

NOTE: With the current unstable COVID situation in Malaysia, the Universiti Malaya has yet to make further decisions in terms of the modality (Physical or Virtual) of the program. University Malaya will keep you posted once it receives any latest decision from the management and the advice from the Malaysia Government.

Eligibility

  1. Undergraduate students (S1) or Graduate students (S2/S3) and have completed at least one academic year of study in Universitas Gadjah Mada
  2. Enrolled in Universitas Gadjah Mada during the program
  3. Be proficient in English. Non-native English speakers must have a score of at least TOEFL-iBT 80 or IELTS 6
  4. Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

  3. Official Academic Transcript record (issued in English)
  4. Study Plan
  5. A recommendation letter from an academic supervisor
  6. Letter of Enrollment from Faculty
  7. Letter of Nomination from Faculty (addressed to the Head of Office of International Affairs UGM)
  8. English Language Proficiency Certificate
  9. Copy of passport photo identification page
  10. Passport picture
  11. All the document listed as required on the Online Application
  12. Confirmation Letter of Participation (download)

 

Application Procedures

  1. Submit the aforementioned documents to UGM International Exposure Application Form: http://ugm.id/IntExposureApplication no later than April 1st, 2021 for internal review.
  2. OIA staff will evaluate your application. Once you are selected as Nominated Applicants, OIA will confirm your official nomination to Universiti Malaya and you may proceed to the Online Application.
  3. The FINAL decision from Universiti Malaya.

 

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
  • In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id).
  • Application of outgoing mobility programs for fall semester in AY 2021/2022 will be processed but the implementation/execution will carefully consider the latest development of COVID-19 and government’s regulation.
