The Vienna School of International Studies (Diplomatic Academy Vienna) is a center of excellence for the study of international affairs and the oldest professional school in this field worldwide, having launched talented men and women into international careers and positions of leadership over the course of more than two centuries.

 

Every year the Diplomatic Academy Vienna organizes a summer course for international students, in order to learn about Austria and its capital city of Vienna. The course includes many interesting activities, workshops and lectures.

 

We are pleased to inform you that the Summer school from Diplomatic Academy is now open for Universitas Gadjah Mada students.

 

Summer school german language and austrian studies is a 4 weeks of intensive German language training in small groups at different levels of competence (from beginners to advanced, in accordance with the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework/CEFR) that conducted from 2 – 26 August 2021.

 

What you will learn?

 

  • Diversified and communicative
  • Workshops and lectures on Austrian politics, history, economy and culture
  • During the course, several research projects are organised to give participants the

  opportunity to discover the ‘real’ Austria beyond tourist clichés

  • Study visits to international organizations based in Vienna, as well as to Austrian

   political and cultural institutions (United Nations, museums etc.)

  • An all-day excursion allows participants to explore Austria outside Vienna
  • Optional leisure activities including hiking, wine tasting, a visit to a “Heuriger”

  (an Austrian wine tavern), waltz lessons and much more

 

Cost and option regarding the program :

 

  • German for Diplomacy and Administration: EUR 180

8×90 minutes intensive language classes in the morning incl. breakfast snack (prerequisite level B1+)

This option can be booked individually or in combination with one of the below-mentioned options 1-5.

 

Option 1:

Half-day course: EUR 890

4 hours of German language classes mornings incl. teaching materials, soft drinks and coffee

 

Option 2:

Half-day course with accommodation: EUR 1,630

Language classes incl. teaching materials, soft drinks and coffee as well as accommodation (incl. breakfast)

 

Option 3:

Half-day course with lunch and accomodation: EUR 1,950

Language classes incl. teaching materials; lunch, soft drinks and coffee on class days; and accommodation (incl. breakfast)

 

Option 4:

Full-day course – tuition, lunch and excursions: EUR 1,730

Language classes incl. teaching materials, lectures, research projects, creative language learning, excursions, leisure activities and lunch on class days (incl. soft drinks and coffee)

 

Option 5:

Full-day course – tuition, accommodation, lunch and excursions: EUR 2,470

Language classes incl. teaching materials, lectures, research projects, creative language learning, excursions, leisure activities, lunch on class days (incl. soft drinks and coffee) and accommodation (incl. breakfast)

 

Please note that no scholarships are currently available for the Summer Course.

Eligibility 

  1. Undergraduate students (S1) or Postgraduate students (S2)
  2. Enrolled in Universitas Gadjah Mada during the program
  3. Be proficient in English. Proved by English certificate with score at least TOEFL ITP 550, TOEFL iBT 79 or IELTS 6.5.

Application Procedure

  1. Finish the application to Diplomatic Academy Vienna directly. (Application is possible via this link )
  2. Submit the aforementioned documents to UGM International Exposure Application Form:http://ugm.id/IntExposureApplication no later than May 15th, 2021 for OIA’s internal documentation.
  3. THE FINAL decision from Diplomatic Academy Vienna.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

 

  • In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
  • In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id)
  • Application of outgoing mobility for spring/even semester in AY 2020/2021 will be processed but the implementation/execution will carefully consider the latest development of COVID-19 and government’s regulation
