For academic year 2019-2020, we set a new application schedule.
Please read “J-PAC Deadline 2019-2020”, nominate your students and apply for J-PAC by the appropriate deadline.
We have 2 deadlines; nomination deadline and application deadline. Please send “Nomination Sheet” by the nomination deadline first and then send your students’ application documents by post. Those documents should be received at Chiba University by the application deadline. If your university has some nominees, please rank the nominated students with the nomination priority.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
A document written in language other than Japanese or English must be attached with a Japanese or English translation.
(a) Japan Program at Chiba Application Form (Designated form)
(b) Plan of Study (Designated form)
(c) A letter of reference (Designated form)
˙A letter of reference should be written by an academic instructor at the applicant’s home institution who has known the applicant for at least one year.
˙It is preferable that a letter of reference is written by other academic instructor who writes a certificate of Japanese language proficiency.
(d) A certificate of Japanese language proficiency by a Japanese language instructor (Designated form)
˙A certificate of Japanese language proficiency should be written by a Japanese language instructor at the applicant’s home institution.
˙It is preferable that a certificate of Japanese language proficiency is written by other academic instructor who writes a letter of reference.
˙It is not required if an applicant studies Japanese by him/herself.
(e) Apply of a certificate of Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT)
˙Only students who have passed JLPT.
˙A printed copy of the online result is acceptable if an applicant has not received a certificate.
(f) A copy of scores of official TOEFL or IELTS score report
˙Only in case that an applicant’s Japanese language proficiency has not reached N2 of JLPT and English language proficiency is the low-advanced (equivalent to CEFR B2).
(g) An academic transcript from the applicant’s home institution (Original)
(h) A copy of the passport ID page
(i) 3 photos with size 3 cm×4 cm
˙One of three photos should be attached on the application form.
˙The photo should be taken and in full-face view directly facing the camera and in front of a plain white or off-white background.

(k) Motivation Letter
(l) Certificate of enrollment from faculty
(m) Letter of Nomination from faculty (*addressed to Head of Office of International Affairs UGM)
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
1) Submit the aforementioned documents to Office of International Affairs, UGM (Bulaksumur F-12) for internal review;
2) OIA UGM will evaluate your application;
3) Once you are selected as Nominated Student, OIA will send your application to host university;
4) FINAL decision from host university
Please send all documents in 2 Hardcopies (1 original and 1 copy) to Office of International Affairs, UGM (Bulaksumur Block F-12) and 1 Softcopy (Scan all applicants’ filled-out application materials in one PDF File) by email to scholarship@ugm.ac.id by:
February 15, 2019 for the program beginning in October 2019
August 1, 2019 for the program beginning in April 2020
