- AUN (Asean University Network)
The ASEAN University Network (AUN) is an Asian university association. It was founded in November 1995 by ASEAN member countries including 13 universities. After the enlargement of ASEAN by the ASEAN Charter in 1997 and 1999, the AUN membership has been increasing. It is an arrangement between 30 universities in the ten ASEAN countries. The AUN is composed of a Board of Trustees (BOT), the participating universities, and the AUN Secretariat.

2. SEARCA (Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture)
The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) is a non-profit organization established by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) in 1966. SEARCA implements its new strategy of Accelerating Transformation Through Agricultural Innovation (ATTAIN), it takes on a new organizational structure based on its aspiration to be lean but responsive to the needs of its internal and external environments, and adaptive to industry needs, market changes, and technological advances.

3. ASEA-UNINET (ASEAN European Academic University Network)
The ASEAN European Academic University Network (ASEA-UNINET) is a network of universities, consisting of European and South-East Asian universities with the goal of promoting the continuous internationalization of education and research. ASEA-UNINET was founded in 1994 by universities from Austria, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam as Austrian-South-East Asian University Network and consists today of more than 80 universities from 18 different countries.

4. ASEM (Asia – Europe Meeting)
The initial ASEM Partnership in 1996 consisted of 15 EU Member States, 7 ASEAN Member States, China, Japan, Korea and the European Commission. Today, ASEM comprises 53 Partners: 30 European and 21 Asian countries, the European Union and the ASEAN Secretariat. Through its informal process based on equal partnership and enhancing mutual understanding, ASEM facilitates and stimulates progress but does not seek to duplicate bilateral and other multilateral relationships between Asia and Europe.

5. AIMS (ASEAN International Mobility for Students Program)
The ASEAN International Mobility for Students (AIMS) programme, formally known as M-I-T, aims to create a vibrant student mobility programme for citizens of all SEAMEO member countries. It aims to use mobility as a driver for students to further career prospects and competences as well as to raise internationally-oriented approaches and foster innovation in selected discipline areas.

6. SATU Presidents’ Forum
This forum provides a venue for academics to share their valuable experiences to improve higher education and international cooperation in the region. The International Secretariat of the SATU Presidents’ Forum, which includes the two subsections named Academic Exchange Subcommittee and Industry Academia Collaboration Sub-committee, has been established at NCKU to coordinate and to promote the related activities.

7. ProSPER Net
ProSPER Net is an alliance of leading universities in the Asia-Pacific region that are committed to integrating sustainable development into postgraduate courses and curricula. The network, dubbed ProSPER.Net: Promotion of Sustainability in Postgraduate Education and Research Network, is developing a new generation of leaders who can best tackle global sustainability challenges in the face of rapid environmental degradation. By changing the way higher education institutions teach students about sustainability, ProSPER.Net improves the ways in which future professionals manage sustainability issues across a wide variety of disciplines.

8. University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific (UMAP)
The general aim of UMAP is for each of the countries and territories in the Asia- Pacific region to achieve a better understanding of the cultural, economic and social systems of the other countries and territories in the region through enhanced cooperation among higher education institutions and increased mobility of university students and staff.

10. Universitas 21 (U21)
Universitas 21 (U21) is a unique global network that brings together 29 world-leading, research-intensive universities who share a common belief in the value of collaboration and internationalisation. From Belgium to Chile, South Korea to South Africa, our member-led initiatives and programmes are designed to benefit staff, students and member institutions, through sharing resources, learning together and co-designing solutions to our common challenges. Our dynamic approach has helped nurture a global network of over 1.2 million students and 250,000 staff, inspiring institutional innovation for over 20 years. UGM itself has joined U21 officially in 2023, as the first Indonesian university to become a member.

11. UKICIS (UK-Indonesia Consortium for Interdisciplinary Sciences)
UK-Indonesia Consortium for Interdisciplinary Sciences (UKICIS) is an UK-Indonesian alliance pioneering research and expertise to build global resilience against pandemics, the climate emergency, and natural hazards. It serves to develop and enhance educational, economic, and cultural links through outreach activities and community engagement. The UKICIS champions Science Diplomacy, strengthening the bilateral relationship between the UK and Indonesia through scientific collaboration.

12. ANSO
ANSO is a non-profit, non-government international scientific organization founded in 2018 based on the general principles of “joint consultation, joint effort and joint sharing” adhered to by the Chinese “Belt and Road Initiative for the promotion of shared development and achievement of the UN SDGs. ANSO members include national academies of sciences, universities, research institutes and international organizations. ANSO is committed to playing an effective role in catalyzing and implementing innovative international science initiatives with the member countries and other partners to advance the ANSO vision and help build a community of the whole humankind with a shared future. Science, Technology, Innovation and Capacity building (STIC) is essential to the progress and welfare of human societies and ANSO is particularly keen to cooperate and partner those who want to collaborate in these endeavors. UGM became an official member of ANSO in 2021.

13. The Future Human Welfare Hub (UGM – UG Hub)
Universitas Gadjah Mada and the University of Groningen are building on a solid foundation of a deep partnership history and a wealth of institutional connections. We find each other in the belief that sharing and creating knowledge across disciplines and borders is the key to creating solutions for challenges our societies are facing, thus the consortium UGM-UG Hub within the theme “The Future Human Welfare Hub.” In the Hub for Future Human Welfare, we aim to co-create sustainable alternative innovations and solutions to pursue future human welfare from the pillars of education, research and community outreach.
14. INUCoST (Indonesia –Netherlands Universities Consortium on Sustainable Futures)
INUCoST is a consortium that connects universities in Indonesia and the Netherlands. The network aims to establish a strong foundation for collaboration between three leading Dutch universities and five leading Indonesian universities. The collaboration is focused on addressing urgent societal issues and encompasses education and research. This consortium is comprised of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Universitas Indonesia (UI), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), and Universitas Mulawarman (UNMUL), along with three leading universities in the Netherlands: Leiden University, TU Delft, and Erasmus University Rotterdam. The network will focus on three main topics: Energy Transformation, Urban Biodiversity, and Smart City & AI.
15. SUIJI (Six University Initiative Japan-Indonesia)
Since 2011, Gadjah Mada University has been a member of the SUIJI (Six-University Initiative Japan Indonesia) consortium together with 5 other universities IPB, UNHAS, Ehime, Kagawa and Kochi University. The aim of the consortium is to contribute to agricultural development and protection of biological resources in tropical areas and contribute to global environmental issues. The SUIJI Consortium organizes educational and research collaboration programs, including SUIJI-SLP (Service Learning Program), SUIJI-JP-Ms (Joint Program for Master), SUIJI-JP-Dc (Joint Program for Doctor) which involves international student exchange at Bachelor level , Masters and Doctorates as well as Lecturers in collaborative research.
16. ACP (Asian Cooperative Program)
The ACP Consortium was launched in 2014, with the goal to develop human resources capable of contributing to the development and management in Southeast Asia. The program links Kansai University of International Studies (KUIS) with 15 Southeast Asian universities under the banner keywords of “Safety and Security”. ACP invited universities in Southeast Asia to join, whose region faces the threat of natural disasters that are similar to those in Japan such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions.

17. AUF (Asian University Forum)
Every year, Asian University Forum brings a forum to discuss relevant issues happening in universities in Asia. Currently, UGM is a member along with 24 other universities across Asia.
